It'll be a bit of a pain and it's not exactly a good engine. You'd be better off putting in a 2litre Zetec or selling up and buying an FRST.

I can't see any way you'd be able to get an RS turbo into an SI.
For a start there's no opening on an SI that would be big enough to drive another fiesta through.Perhaps with a lot of modification the boot could be opened out and extended back, but then you would also have to raise the roof a substantial amount. i thing you would probably also have to widen the SI by a good foot on either side.

Are you planning on keeping the front seats in the SI? Obviously if you remove them you wouldn't have to extent the boot quite so much, but then you would have nowhere to sit when driving the SI (not that i think it would go very far with about a tonne of RS turbo in there) I suppose you could rig up some sort of bench on the RS turbos bonnet that you could sit on, however i doubt that would be road legal

That also raises another point, once you have done this massive amount of fabrication work to fit the RS turbo in the SI, it will be massively overweight and you will never be able to legally drive it! If you somehow manage to get over this problem, and i think you will really struggle, i still fail to see the point! The only possible reason i can think for doing this is the piece of mind in knowing that if your SI ever breaks down you will have a complete, ready to roll Fiesta RS turbo in the boot.

If i were you i would look at getting a small 7.5tonne flatbed lorry to carry the RS arround in. Although it will not be quite so unique it will save you alot of time and money!

Still if you are still determined to press on then i wish you all the luck in the world, and keeps us updated with the progress.
I know i'll be watching with great intrest!

;) Graham's right. Perhaps a double garage might be more suited to your needs. Unless you obviously need to take both cars with you at all times, in which I can think of no better solution than the flatbed truck. Maybe look into putting one of those folding bikes in the boot if you need two forms of transport.

I think most people would say it's not a good engine. :hsugh: Out of Ford circles I mean.

ok, i dont want to start a debate as it is all down to opinions at the end of the day and it has been proved that a well built cvh is a good engine but thats a "ford circle" debate........

it must be the 8v's :hsugh:

Then again, i would like to hear the reasonings behind why its not great from the "non-ford circle" (i assume they have knowledge :) )

oh dear

costs come down to how much you want to spent, if you can get hold of a rotten frst cheaply and use that as a donor car

i think it will bolt in, but you'll have a few issues with the engine moounts going from a zetec > CVH, but i'm not 100% if its the front or rear engine mount that you have issues with :red:

then you'll need to use the frst management and engine bay wiring loom, i dont think the CVH engine bay loom plugs straight into the Zetec car loom, so thats another area you'd have to address

thats all i can think of, there was a guy on here that did the conversion, but cant think of his username right now, if i remember if i'll do a search :D

as mentioned, you would be better off with a 2.0 zetec as it would bolt straight in without mount modifications and would be cheaper to source 8-)

If you can get all the bits from an FRST cheap then go for it. Won't be too hard if you have a rotten FRST shell to use all the bits from.

I wouldnt even concider doing the CVH turbo engine unless you were modding for more power, because arent they only around 130bhp as standard? the 1.8 or 2.0ltr zetec can do that and being yours is the zetec anyway, its just the case of bolting an engine in and away you go.. no turbo lag and zetec engines are more reliable :)

But anything is do-able. Mine was a 1.1, then a TD, and now RS1800. We had no problems with anything :)

132bhp in standard form

Although a cvh person, and drives a cvh engined car (which of course has been ultra relaible, but its a cvh   ) i would recomend the zetec as it would be less of a ball ache as it bolts straight in and management wont be as involved

but when it comes to bang for buck imo the cvh is a pretty good engine, few tweaks and uprated bits and you could see 200bhp easily!

would take a bit more money and tuning to see that from an NA zetec, unless you ZT it cheaply, but then that can compromise reliability :hmm:

the weak link on a cvh tuned engine is usually the BC gearbox

Or if it hasn't been built properly or maintained.

My dads mate, had a 1.9cvh S2 Escort (running 184bhp and 212lb/ft on 11psi) and he drove it enthusiastically every day and bar the BC Box, never let him down once (except when his mate left it in gear, and when he started it on the remote start alarm it jumped into the car in front   )

Although the fuel econemy on an RST engine would probably not be good enough for an everyday car for me
