I just got myself a replacement gearbox as mine went tits up recently lol.

Basically there is a lil black box thing on top of the gearbox, and i took the top of and there is like a tube/hole.. cant see down it because its dark inside lol.

Reason i wonder what it is, is because ive not got it on my gearbox (and yes its the same box lol)

What is it? Breather?

If its a little tube.. its the breather/spill pipe

cant remember seeing anything like that on any of my g/box's, IIRC the breather comes out of the side

Yea i know theres a breather tube on my old gearbox, and the speedo cable is at the back driving by the driveshafts as onslack said, ill get a better pic of it in a moment!

Ive never seen it on any other gearbox either lol.

Its from a 1.3 fiesta.

in the 4 years ive been working on fiestas ive not seen that.

Does it lead to anywhere inside bell housing?

i know tell me about it!!! thats why ive asked.

It goes to the actual inside of the gearbox casing. In the pic u can see like a metal shaft - which is the input shaft, and when u turn the input shaft by hand, u can see it moving on the inside.

Im gussing its either a filler, or breather. Haynes manual says nothing about it though lol.

I just had a look on microcat on my pc.. aparently its a air vent.

I looked at mine and twisted it around, and with a bit of force it reckon it would come out lol.

First time i have ever seen that though!

As you can see, its highlighting number 19.
