I thort about doing this to my 2.0l before i drop it in, but read a quote from a website saying that it can cause the engine to
detonate (knock and pink) :o and it kind of put me off, should i listen to this quote or is it nonsense????

Hmmm... the "Cooling Effect"... correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't exhaust gases are anything but cool!!!!

Especially when they haven't had time to pass through a long metal pipe open to the elements!

Sounds like someone that works in an EGR valve company wrote that one :lolz: :lolz:

I think thats more to do with newer engines. If you get faults on egr valves with new cars it can cause all sorts of issues.

Thre EGR on a 13 year old car is probably so blocked up it wont be working anyway... ive not had any problems by removing it. CVH's can run with out it, dont see why a zetec cant.

I have to agree with the fact that that statement is likely to be for newer cars!!

Bizzarely my A4 has started loosing coolant and Audi think it's due to the EGR system, so it appears that newer EGR's are cooled by the coolant and hence why they would provide a cooling effect!!

Ho hum!!

once removing from thre manifold what did you guys do with the sensor on the bulkhead and the pulse air box in the n.s wing???

how did you leave the wiring loom just disconnected??? zetec series 2 1995 car - now series 2 2.0 from 1998 mondeo.

just curious my car has been losing some coolant but from no visible places could this be why, what are the benefits from doing it if any and what are the bad points ?

Well i am seeing some coolant drop to the floor suspisiously too but cant imagine it has anything to do with that....

It came off with a struggle in no1 cylinders part of the manifold, so much so that i ended up using a second manifold as it was rusted in there, but just felw through the emmisions test ok. The guy on here posted some rolling road graphs claiming you get more torque. But the plugs that go into the manifold are very large, so the un restricted manifold must be better off.


By the way i ended up re connecting the puldse air box tot he valve, thru the inlet to the solenoid chunk and just plugging the one pipe that previously led to the exhaust end.....
