Result Fiesta ST wins

Just! Was the other night both cars modified the same, with induction kit and cat back, the Fiesta just nipped it
Increasing its lead at top end

Very close though and goes to show how fat the fiesta has got, as the 106 should be about 30bhp down and it only just got beat

Without starting war, im dubious, Marks 106 Gti did a 6.8 to 60 @ york, with his KnN from his puma and a decat. And im sure even modded (180bhp) in PF & FF only do about 7.

Have a go against him at the RR day and ill happily eat my words! :halo:

Both great cars in their own rights. I went past an ST in my GTi like he was standing still. He spoke to a friend of mine later that day asking if he knew where that GTi came from and what had been done. He couldn't believe his mighty 2.0 was blazed by a 1.6. I think it's high time Ford got their hands dirty and really give the next ST the goods. Balls to selling numbers, make a car that people want to buy and get people talking!

Basically the 2.0 torque won the race by a margin. Sadly that's all it's ever had on a 106 gti.

I always had a soft spot for the FST when it first came out, I may buy one when I can pick them up for 2.5k or something. until then performance for money is wayyyyyy out of it's league.

Try getting insurance on a VXR! it was like 3k for me on a Corsa VXR never mind an astra! :rolleyes:

Is or are any of the megane turbos? Just the rear end is so ugly, its like it eat all the pies tbf :lol:

I think i know what matty is getting at, aka expense of the VXR, ill look into it

But the thing is the focus can be upped to 285bhp cheaply and will do impressive times, specially if you wanna fork out for a trick diff, and its still cheap even with that, my quote at 21 on a Focus ST is Â£1k

The clio 197 has a harsh 4 cylinder and the VXR is the one to have between them 2 as its turbo and is much better looking in my opinion

So its Corsa or Astra Vxr, Focus ST (yes more common but then it is a good car for the money thats why everyone has bought one

And that new civic type R, not my cup of tea either! :hsugh:

have to agree id have the megane over the st, seen them on the road and there georgious, my dad has one of the top spec meganes and tbh i must say its extreamly quiet and compfertable inside and handles pretty well for a non sports model! so im guessing the r26 would be 10 times better than this! iv driven a new shape focus zetec and i didnt like it, found it noisy and the seats were really hard! so i dunno what the st is like compared to a base zetec as in compfort and how quiet it is inside. so i dare say the r26 is going to be better that an st compfort wise and preformance wise by the looks of things

id also think that the megane will have better features that the focus also being french? i dont usally stick up for french cars as alot of the peugeots and citroens my dad has owned have had problems but none of the renalts have! id say go drive the st and drive the r26 :thumbsup:

As it stands I would never ever plan on buying a new Ford... yeah a few years old one for cheap, but never a new one, not good enough :rolleyes:
