Figured out why the temp gauge was going mental.. was the clocks. so put in a set of deisel clocks. but fuel gauge was abit off.. so stuck in my last £20 for the month as I will need the fuel anyways

Will adjust the needle next time I get chance to brim it..

Lets hope the company will give me some wages early

Raisers are better no I modded the bonnet catch and bits to stop if wobbling was scary seeing it wobble on the motorway

and FINALLY!!

upped the fueling more to match my boost, seems it was chucking out whiteish smoke due to lack of fuel, and running lean causing it to get a tad warm!!

Now throws lovely black smoke out when I floor it, pulls alot better.

Have gained some low end power now, abit nippier.. I just got to learn that its no petrol. and doesnt go fast fast

The TD lump that is..

I need reliability.. yeah it is, but sometimes it refuses to start.. and the boost pipe has popped off once again! the bolt holding the IC down has actually snapped due to this so cant get another one in the hole without having to drill it out... which I will have to do tomorrow so I can still use the bloody car without having to worry about the boost, so tomorrow I will take it steady!

So once Ive stripped the loom and engine from the RS1800 thats all going into the Pickup. Hopefully within a week.. depending on how much time off I have! Gonna be a quick one too.. spend a night stripping engine and loom from the RS, and one night to put into the pickup!!

Might even start that tomorrow evening!
Suppose I could blag my stepdads van for a day or 2 if needs be for getting to work!

I'm pissed off.

Had a training course to be at today, car needed jumping off to start with, thats okay as it will charge on the way there.

Got half way to my destination.. car cut out, no electrics.. smelt abit funny.

Got mark to come a few miles to jump me off.. soon as we put jump leads on; smoke pooring from under dash. some wires had ate themselves

So fixed them, taped them up and now Im at home.

So have misssed my training course.. I let work know, dunno if they care or not But I lose money grrr

So I'm going to spend the day stripping the RS, then maybe get it in the pickup!!!

sounds like your having a shit time at the moment paul!

in aid of reliablity i think slapping the rs engine in seems to be the best way to go

thats hard going mate

but an rs1800 pickup would be immense

Spent a few hours sorting things out on the pickup

Now starts better due to having all 3 bolts on the start motor instead of 1.. others went missing in action

Alternator is tightened up.

Got a full tank of diesel to use up, and once the RS stuff is ready and I have some time.. it shall be making its way into the pickup with the DERV Gearbox, and need to get a smaller belt as I'm losing the powersteering on the zetec

Today I am planning on getting my arse into gear and removing the RS lump and loom from the RS1800.

I will be waiting a week before I put it into the pickup.. as I think once I charge the battery it will be okay.. and I have a full tank of Diesel to use up!

This will give me time to clean the engine up and slap some colour onto it; along with a smaller aux belt as I am getting rid of the PAS pump, as I cannot be arsed to fit the PAS rack

Then its drop TD lump, wiring out.. DERV gearbox swapped into the RS lump.

RS lump in, then wiring loom in

Should go without any problems.



Another problem which happened yesturday was... back road to marks house.. lots of water. Deisel sucked it in, and killed it. But came back to life when dragged around with a 4x4

Yes that is my exhaust out the sunroof. And yes that is the complete engine box and cradle in the back of the pickup.

Saturday is a new era. RS1800 MK3 Fiesta Pickup!!

I'm sure the RSOC will love it.

Heres to a pain free conersion

Rs isnt in too bad condition, i was suprised to see no rust on front end at all, but its getting treated to new wings anyway, which im gonna cut up anyway the engine conversion shouldnt be too bad, engine loom and tank from rs, the pickup has the breathers for tank as it was petrol in first place, so less hassle there! Just a case of swapping gearboxs, clean up and change aux belt. Was gonna paint engine but stuff that u cant see it much. Lol
