Right I brought my 2litre engine yesterday but there was a bit of confusion as to whether it was a 2litre or not. The scrappy wrote 2litre etc on it, but there is no marking of the engine size on the block? It shows alot of signs of being a 2litre e.g. the sump, the mondy manifold etc. However I just wondered if anyone knew how to confirm it is deffinately a 2litre? :?

Any help is appriciated guys.

Should have 2.0 stamped on the engine block somewhere. If its 1.8 it will have that stamped etc

Well I have stripped most of the engine now and still no sign on engine size there is other numbers maybe if I rang ford they could tell me?

Happypaul I cam across that area as thats usually where most zetec numbers are and that particular area has been tampered with? can't think why only maybe to sell it as a ''2litre'' but really it may only be a 1.8. I really hope this isn't the case I travelled 80miles to get the dam thing and back again, oh and wasted almost a day :(

Im going to have to ring Ford thankyou onslack Im going to ring them first thing in the morning!

im sure the 2.0 has diff cams in it? well the 2.0 and the rs1800 have the same cams. someone may be able to tell you how to tell if it has 2.0 cams :)

edit: and also as far as i no the stamping is behind the exhaust manifold in the middle of the block, have you got the manifold off?

did you get proof of purchase from the scrappy? if you did and it turns out the engine is wrong go get your money back!
