put a newer fusion amp in my car now. but it wont run off the remote lead! i bought it off my mate and he had the same problem in his saxo.
my old amp used to run fine off the remote lead! everythings wired up correctly btw!

with my friends car we had to run the amp remote of the ignition switch because the remote lead wants carrying enuff power to switch the amp on. its weird!

atm moment i have got the remote lead connected to the red power lead which goes into the back of the head unit!

but the amp will only work wen the engine is off. but its strange coz wen u turn the engine on the amp goes off, then after a while it will randomly come back on wen the engine is running! i cant get my head round it!

any1 got any ideas???

maybe the amp is just balled up mate, tried bridging the remote onto the power cable on the amp? then it should be a constant live... not really reconmended for permanant use but it will find out if its fucked lol.

run a feed from the battery and the get a relay that is switched on by the remote lead from the head unit. then the amp will cbe getting power whent the head unit is turned on but not when it is turnd off. you can get a 40 amp relay from a good automotive spares shop of mabye form halfords through a special order. i know mondeos use 30amp relays for main beam, as i have one for activating my horn as it draws to much current for the standard wiring. hope this helps

the weird thing is that it starts wokiing after a while wen the engine is on! but i dont know y???

most remote feeds are 5volt i thought. so you dont want to be running it straight from the battery.

its sounds very odd, what have you earthed the amp to? check all your earthing points on the car, check there all clean and tight :) when i used to have a amp in my car i earthed it ontop of the rear suspension!

the rear light earth is also good, on the passenger side next to the bumper mounting. the amp shouldnt be pulling 12v off the remote lead either, would lead me to think that the amps duff and has been shorted, probally when it was new. any new stereo equipment should be 'run in' for 24 hours play time before its taken over 25% of its capacity.
take the cover of the amp off a check the power/ground/remote terminals, they could be shorted. and check the warranty, you might be able to take it back.
