How tight should the water pipes get while running???

The pipe from my radiator to engine is tight as fook when running.. I let the water out with the screw on the pipe to be on the safe side..

But can someone please let me know how tight they should get, if it all.. ta.

They should be firm with just a small amount of give when hot, if they're solid you've got problems, could be an airlock, faulty 'stat, silted up rad or knackered water pump.

think it was airlock... sorted it now tho.. although I think my stat is on its way out
