My mum hada 1999 Hyundai Coupe 1st gen 2.0 SE with leather, Cruise Control, A/C Cd Player etc, and it never put a foot wrong in 5 years, apart from a HT Lead failing Loved that car, and they let me take out just before it was sold and its nice to drive, responsive, nice car (this one had 53k once my mum had finished with it, and we brought it on 42k! ah T427 FGN )

But if you want something fast and cheap, how about an Escort RS2000 or GTI or Mondeo ST24, you can get a good one of any of these for under 2k and still be part of the Ford family with a little bit of luxury!

i second what woodsy said, my uncle has just bought one and they are fairly quick, nice interior, all the gizmo's (dependant on spec lol). would definatly be my choice.

im unimpressed with my sodding ford mot man.

Been taking it apart today and its a joke.

The decision to call my tyres bald is iffy at best, all parts of the tyre are above the wear bars, granted the inside shoulders are close, but still above.

the dangerous slit which is showing canvas, isnt showing canvas its just a slit in the raised tread block as my "bald" tyres still have 7-8mm tread on them.

i am almost deffinitely sure the wobbly drivers mirror was absolutely fine before i put it in the dealers car park.

The springs are perfectly fine.

The brake cables are perfectly fine

so really its failed on a missing exhaust clamp and a wheel bearing

Sounds like you were done over! Get it fixed and MOT'd at another station, then get the RS gear fitted.

also have found i can get insured on one of these for just under 2k which is pretty horrific but cheap car, quick and id love a t-bar.

I am very seriously considering building the si up into a little track machine. Hopefully I can store it at a farm and work on it there. With any luck it will go off road for a little while and re-emerge with somewhere around 200bhp Will see what i can manage once ive bought the mr2 but with a bit of good fortune the fez can be a track and show car

im going to be paying about 1750 for the mr2 which is the same as i paid for the fiesta last year...only difference being instead of working part time at tesco, im on double the wages as an apprentice so..
