got a £30 fine on thursday for my black number plates. can't complain tho as i had done something wrong. just gutted that i cant have my black plates on anymore and i thought they looked smart too.
the policeman was alright tho, he wasn't an arse with me, agreed they looked good (he also used to have a green si a few years ago) but he said they didnt show up on the camera so he didnt have a choice but to book me. he also said it goes on the dvla data base that i have been done for it and if i get caught again then the dvla will take the reg off me and not issue me with a new one preventing me from driving the car ever again.

black plates are for cars reged 1972 backwards. i asked him what about my mates mk1 mexico, he just said no it wouldnt show up and its tuff luck. on the other hand tho if u have a retro/classic car and its stolen then it will be easy to notice (especialy a bright yellow mk1 mexico with a calibra turbo engine). looks like the plates will only be used for shows, meets and photos now.

the laws regarding number plates are pain in the arse.

L as in L at the right end not the left end was the last one youd get away with. legistlation came in for those 1st jan 73 any non reflective plates fitted after this date are not legal. altho there is an interim thing where it had to be white and yellow but not reflective which i think lasted a bit longer but not much. (cant rightly remember). certainly not upto mk3 fiesta age.

but the black and silver ones look loads better than the wanky reflective ones imo. but thats the law of the land im afraid.
