Teeny update:

Just bought 1000mm x 1000mm x 5mm square of clear perspex for the princely sum of 20 notes which is going to replace the 2 rear quarter windows, as long as all goes to plan ill pick up another couple of sheet for the front door windows and the main rear one. Result = Poly windows for < £100

Also SiSiSi has agreed to rebuild and fit a 2.0 for me around August/September time ( woo )

looks lovely mate, after seeings yours lowered 40mm, im gona lower mine the same once ive got my xr kit on, 40mm looks so much better than 35mm, it doesnt sound much difference but i think it looks a lot better that 5mm lower.

did u use springs and shocks or just springs, wa make did u use? does it handle much better now that its lower?

Been in the MOT station all week, finally got it back to be greeted with 17 counts of fail and 7 advisories



Nothing especially major.

Fails

1 driver seat insecure
1 drivers mirror is broken
2 wheel bearings
4 tyres
1 count of rubbing
4 for brake pipe routing, deemed to be dangerous as missing gromits
2 for springs incorrectly sitting
1 for rear ARB bolt pulling out a bit so is now loose
1 for a missing U clamp on exhaust
1 for loose exhaust due to missing clamp

Advisories

handbrake is crap
front brakes are crap they lock the wheels at 70 so i dont understand that one
centre cap loose, i dont have centre caps
3 missing / split suspension dust covers


So....im going to be putting it back to standard, moting it then selling it probably, toying with a supercharged weekend / track toy but we'll see how funds are

unlucky mate,
sounds like a tough MOT station .... which probably isnt a bad thing?
how are the springs sitting incorrectly?
fixes are cheap and easy though (except tyres being expensive )

tbh i fell out of love with the si (shock horror) after driving dads alfa 146, its just a much better drive, does everything the fez does just better and is more comfortable and looks flasher in a car park. After running a quote on it I found i can insure a couple of 150 ish bhp cars for about 1200 which will just be that much nicer to be in so here's the shortlist

Hyundai coupe 2.0 F2 Evolution (1st gen)
Alfa GTV 2.0 ts
Ford Puma 1.7

Ford Capri 2.8 (not new or practical but 160bhp RWD is tempting)
