okay maybe the title doesnt make sence
heres what happend

i was driving to work, just as i pulled into work i heard an unusual flapping noise in the engine bay

i got to a junction and my car stalled,

it started up again, but was hella lumpy, i knew something wasnt right
the first thing i suspected was the cam belt (it was a uni part belt i dont trust there crap but the whole kit was cheap)

when i removed the cam belt cover, half the cam belt was missing infact there was about a 15mm thin stip of belt going round the cams pullies etc.. and lots of fibreglass fluff and rubber shavings.

i got the car towed home, removed all the belt cover to find that a bolt from the water pump had somehow wiggled out and wedged it self in the little gap where the crank pulley it, the head of the bolt has caught the belt and ripped it to pieces,

fortunatly about 2days before i had bought a gates powergrip belt with the intention of replacing it due to not trusting the unipart belt,

so i cleaned out all the fibreglass belt crap and rubber and whipped the new belt on, timed it all up perfectly (the timing had jumped out by about 2-4teeth(i also replaced the water pump bolt and did it up extremly tight and tightened all the others), put everything back together and now the car seems to be running pants,

its lost torque throughout the whole rev range

so i thought great a bent valve,

i got a compression tester and a long 14mm tapered spark plug adapter thinggy and tested the engine when it was warm

and got the following readings

cylinder 1 = 9.5bar ish
cylinder 2 = 9.9bar ish
cylinder 3 = 9.7bar ish
cylinder 4 = 9.8bar ish

so it would seem the compression is all good (i think)

please could someone reeel off the list of possible things that would make my rs1800si run pants so i can go through them all

i've cleaned the maf and icvs
the timing is spot on (the metal bar glides thorough the cams at tdc :D)
spark plugs are cleaned and gapped, leads have all been checked and cleaned
not sure how to test lambda.

all suggestions appreciated

:D

Hmmm thats a strange one mate, 2-4 teeth is all it takes to bend a valve, u sure its not just slightly clipped a valve as thats the only way i could see it losing power, possibly look elsewhere for the problem maybe something completely unrelated :)

i would expect to see anywhere between 140-160, but that would depend on mileage etc.

i would of said a slightly bent valve, but looking at the comp test the results seem to be fairly uniform.

Is it timed up correctly ?

oh, one other thing i have noticed,
the car seems to smell alot richer than usual, if i boot it then stop for example speedup before i have to stop at traffic lights  (everyone seems to speed up before stopping its like an unspoken rule)
the smell of unburnt fuel will come in through my window

and at high speed and rpm i can hear a slight misfire

all spark plugs have been gapped i even tried swaping the coil pack

i experimented with spark plug gaps tried from 0.035 - 0.051 all the ht leads seem alright,
the airfilter is clean
the exhaust isnt blocked
the tyres are pumped up :D
the fuel pressure regulator is set to standard pressure as that has always worked best
the timing is perfect

i'm with boost mad, timing issue.
whip the g/box and flywheel off and tighten the Crank sensor, then try it.
tightening the bolt for the sensor behind the starter wont do anything, it'll be the sensor housing thats loose
