I only gave up the cossie becuase i cant aford it. with household bills going up and doing 200 a week to work .

i got my 53 mondeo. i get good MPG, its comfy, and has a few toys....just what i need :thumbsup:

well im 28 with a family, i've done the big fast cars, it took me years to work up to the best a rover 620ti running 218bhp to be honest that car actualy slowed me down, people used to challange me but i used to think why waist the petrol i know my car is faster.
i've had a granada 2.9 4x4, fast and loads of luxury, but did about 18mpg even driving it like an old man :lol:

also had a volvo 740 estate with the 2.3 turbo engine, that was like a battle ship with wheels but soooooooo much fun going sideways all the time.
but now having a family i have to be a little more sensable, i had sierras for a while as i like to be alittle bit differant, there big safe comfy and still fun in the wet, but got board with them too, i now have a 2i, its the best compromise for me, its fun, fast, cheap (ish) to run and stands out as been differant from all the other boaring stuff most family people drive, but every time i see a 620ti on ebay im tempted to get another 1,
dont think i ever will as i love my 2i too much.[code][/code]

The price i paid for mine was a uber bargin, a standard WRX go for around Â£6k ish, but mine came with, Sti brakes, Sti spoiler, Morretes, Leather (which is extremely Rare), electric sunroof, optional extra Subaru Cat 1 alarm, 59k miles, intensive service history with no expense spared, 18" Oz Prodrive alloys, Prodrive Sports suspension and The PPP (Prodrive performance Pack) and i paid less than 6k, from a Dealer, with a 3 month Warrenty, 12 months Mot and 6 months ticket. :chill:

A WRX with the PPP go for 1k more than a standard WRX, so with all my extras a got a amazing bargin. :thumbsup:

I could infact sell it on and make around 2k!

But im not going to as i like it to much! :lol:

It was also a case of, well i had the money and i was bored of the Rallye and thought id give myself a Get well soon Present! :halo:

Id never buy a Brand new car, could never warrent the instant lose of money as you drive of the forcourt! :doh:

blimey that was a bargain

different extreme,

but the xr3i, i got for Â£650 in pretty much mint condition and the equivalent are going for between Â£1500-Â£2000 so i think i did well

I'm the opposite, I started with a Fiesta, then went to a slightly bigger car (306 gti-6) and now I'm on a smaller car again (106 xsi) and to be honest I hate it. It's a great car if you're thrashing it along the lanes, but when it's wet and you just want to get from A to B, it's noisy and horrid.

I miss the room of a bigger car, the comfort, the luxuries you tend to get with them, the ease of use of a bigger engine compared to a small one. I'm never going to own a small one again if I have the choice.

I can't knock small cars though, like mine, they tend to offer great insurance prices, value for money, MPG, parts and repairs etc.

I'd love an Honda ATR as my next car if it wasn't for fuel prices and the higher insurance cost. Mind you if I get this new job around the corner I'll most probably be eating my words.

to wade in here, i dont see petrol prices as being a huge problem in the future. Yes i agree it will completely destroy the older performance car market unless they bring forward the tax exempt laws or something.

Reason being, performance manufacturers know that the biggest hurdle they have to climb in the future is efficiency. I would be extremely suprised in 15-20 years if performance cars were not much faster than our current models and to have a similar sized market share.

However I completely agree with the "buy a silly car while I still can" mentality i.e. before I end up with a mortgage and family to support.

You only live once after all.

My basic plan is to get the wife a nice sensible car so I can steal it if needs be and never have to settle down. :hsugh:

As it happens both my cars are cheap on fuel, cheap to insure and reasonably reliable.

I plan on dodging all this road tax farce by buying a tax exampt capri and fitting a 302V8 in there running on lpg to keep fuel costs down, screw the government and their motorist discrimination, yes im always gonna have a faster car than the last one and each ones gonna be 2 fingers up to gordon brown
