Plans are to ask ford how much a brand new gear linkage is (could be a laugh ), and a good hoover and clean (weather permitting )

And to rectify the niggle of the rear wiper giving up the ghost (signs point to either dead motor or switch on stalk)

hopefully my 50 hour weeks this month will provide me some money to clear my overdraft slightly and save more towards bodywork/cam

I finally recieved good news

My mum and dad have had their small mortgage approved, and are giving me and my sister £2000 each and as much as i would love to respray my car the money will pay off my loan so i will be £160 a month better off

and after a spirited drive last night i am tempted to get a cam, see if it spices things up a little

it feels alot faster then it is, i was doing 70mph and it felt like 100 concentrating so much!

Friday brings me and rob an efi xr3i for breaking

so the following will be swapped over between mine and the "breaker"

1: Clear Front Indicators
2: 88 spec front recaros (passenger side one needs spring fixing underneath)
3: Wiper motor Cover (as mine is red)
4: Centre console (where headunit is) as mine is scratched due to the old headunit being glued in

I should be getting a puma gearknob aswell, as i like the feel of them, and will be a nice break up in the interior, and maybe a leather gear gaitor from a later escort.

I'm also keeping all the standard parts like indicators so i can put it back to standard at will

I'll be doing this on saturday so will get pics up

Will be nice to be in a recaro again

And due to me being sick of the gearing (70 is 3700rpm and very loud) i will be looking into getting a mk6 escort diesel box, as these have really long 5th gears, which would be ideal

Will also be treating her to a oil change, and the fuel filter will finally be changed, as i get paid friday and a couple of other bits and bobs like joining the XROC

Yeah this cabby xr3i is costing me and rob £200 (got to pick it up from bridgewater on the a303 which is near becks neck of the woods i think, well far enough from here!)

You git, 60 is just over 3000rpm for me and as you have witnessed, it is loud

Also getting a quote extension from the bodyshop, as it is £100 for the bonnet and front valance and i want to add rear valance, boot and bumpers into that, and maybe the roof, so near enough the full car will be minted, and rust free, which i will double up with waxoyling etc

A cam is also gaining in credibility, as mine is worn and rather then replace, i may aswell upgrade

if i feel really grannifed 50mph is 2000rpm i think , yeah it was loud! sounded good though

Yeah, 50 is still 2500rpm ford put a lower geared gearbox on, as a fiesta xr2 was significantly quicker

Yeah i agree on the sonding good (thanks) but on a motorway its a teensy weeny bit bloody annoying! even if you let off at 70 in 5th it pops and bangs

i've made it my mission to make it nice, it may not be strictly standard, but hey, its not a ragged rs rep with a illusion bodykit

And exactly, a kent cvh22 will go straight in, gives upto 12bhp (so 5-7 i am guessing) and is mild, or there is the cvh33 which gives up to 25bhp, but requires a ported head and bigger valves etc, and is really lumpy, so i will get a 22!

The passenger one needs a base, as the support underneath is broken, a bit of wood has been substituted by the previous owner , but the bolsters are mint, and they are very comfy, i love them

The xr3i seats are being stored in robs garage, and as yet the clear indicators aren't fitted

Oh, and that is the comedy back box that was fitted to the cabby! anyone want it

Shame, the car was abused, it really was a piece of shit, rotted and ragged. A few bits are for sale, like the genuine rs badged sideskirts, spoiler and rear bumper
