hello boys and girls. im guaging interest in how many people would be interested in a kit to replace the riveted pins and bushes with bearings and steel pins. all youll need to fit them is a drill and some patience. instructions will be supplied.along with all the parts req to complete the job. what the kit will do is remove the free play within the universal joint and make it alot less vauge... kits will be somewhere between 20 and 25 quid each inc postage.


not fussed if people dont want them...just an idea.

would this be simular to the replacement linkage bearings and pins as discribed on another zetec website? if so ive done it and it did make a improvement but may be a bit exposed to winter weather.

it is basically the same mod as described as the zetec inside website. granted they are exposed but if lubed properly before fitting and every so often i cant see a problem. the only reason i thought of doing kits is when i ordered the bar..i got a tube with 14 1 metre lengths (minimum order) which is enough to make about 70 odd kits!.. so im basically using it to do kits and what i dont use for that ill put to one side.

how much improvement depends on how shagged the pins are. but if the springs in your base are not much cop then it will still feel baggy. that repair kit is available from fords for about 7 quid i think.


i'll make some pins and take a picture of the whole kit and finalise the cost so you know what your getting for your money. then ill start processing orders for anyone who wants one.

if you want a cheaper alternative to a b&m get the kit from rally design for a mk4 escort. its the same stick assembly. and its like 50 quid not 200 plus. but they are a right pig to fit.


anywhos. afaik the b&m uses the same selector and stabiliser assembely only the stick is different. altho anyone whos had one fitted will be able to clarify this. so this kit would be able to be fitted.
