since owning an si for my first car when i was 17, the zetec version i might add, i have liked the car alot and the cheap fun it can offer. when funds were available i moved onto an escort rs turbo S2 and had a 125cc motorbike as well, i then sold both of them to get a starlet gt turbo which i then sold and bought my current car, a celica gt-four, which surprise suprise is now for sale. i have finally realised why i keep buying and selling the cars i have, and its because like many other car nutters i am never satisfied with the speed a car can give and have always ran away at the thought of modifying a car, for instance right now i am bored with the speed of my celica, its 255bhp and i could get a boost controller and up it to 300bhp but then there are the issues of having to uprate other stuff and then spend more money on repairs etc.. this mainly being becuase i cannot run two cars.. however when i sell the celica i will be buying a small van probably an escort 1.8 diesel. and because i know a guy that is awesome at building zetec turbo engines i was thinking of having a 300bhp engine being built and dropped into a 3dr track prepped si shell, with slicks at the front and skinny steels at the back to make a drag car.. i havent seen this done before and i am really wanting to create something thats original and not being done.. what do you all think to that for an idea then??

Get an Cheap Ebay special bimmer and abuse it!!!!

think you need to decide what you want to do first before picking a car, dont thing a 300bhp Si is the way to go drag racing with the limits of traction of the line with weight transfer on front wheel drive cars expect you would get beaten by rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive cars with lot less power. Also not into Drifting so its either a Si track car or big rear wheel drive drag car

in relation to peoples comments.. i think an e30 325i would be a good car to rag and if i have a trailer then obviously i could get one quite cheap if it had no tax and test and needed a few things like a new wing or something, as long as its mechanically ok.. the si drag car is seeming more tempting though as i love launching FWD. dont ask me why but i do, struggling to get the grip and getting it, theres nothing like it and a 280bhp zetec turbo engine has just come up on ebay.. if i got an si that weighed less than a ton and put that in thats around 300bhp per tonne and if you add big ass drag slicks into the mix you are talking 0-100 in 8 seconds or less and a quarter of around 11.5-12.5 seconds.. with the ability to up the boost and add nitrous at a later date, i am wanting a project i think, i can never make my mind up :sigh:

nothing beats a 200sx for drifting, shane lynch has one! :lol:

fwd drag car...... :homo:

bmw drifter? good luck....i've tried in a 325 with no traction control in the wet, slides like a lounge on a marshmallow bowling ally.

it comes down to what you want at the end of the day, i would go si drag car, iirc no1 has done it, and cant beat being different

yeah, i am edging more towards si drag car, i love the si mainly cuz i had one as my first car and would love to make one that could do high 11's or low 12's on the quarter mile, that would be sweet..
