hi all i'm mark a newbie to the si world, first question is has any one on here ever put a rs2000 engine in a mk3 fiesta if so please message me any tip's etc... i guess i'll have to use my gearbox and the rs loom etc the main consern's are flywheel clutch etc i guess this will become apparant once the two engine/gearbox's are side by side, but some heads up would be good
thanks in advance for any tips/help

this is a very difficult conversion but can be done if u have quite deep pockets. engine mounts will have to be made here and i know the rs2k engine is very heavy and alot of peeps say use the zetec but the rs2k engine is alot more responsive and very fast in standard form... this wood be a mental conversion any help just call me 07833942619

go for it, but depending on how much you spend, it might be worth while going another route?

imo its worth doing just to be different, the 2l conversion is worthwhile, and a lot more cost efficient (sp?) but the world would be boring without some variety.

im currently running rs2000 in my mk4 escort and believe me is no easy feat. took me 4 days in a workshop with acess to 2 poster ramps, 4 poster ramps grindign and welding equipment oh and i had a very experienced coded welder and ex fabricator at hand as he is my old mentor at work. to fit into a mk4 you have to cut off the original engine mounting plate and supports, grind it all back and weld in a new one at the correct hight/position and using the original rs2k rubber/mount. you also have to space the gearbox down 10mm to get the engine to fit under the bonnet, im using bonnet spacers and it still rubs a tiny tiny bit!
use a mk5 rs2k pre pats loom and ecu. also if plannning on running a cvh box you will need a zetec frlywheel and clutch as the splines on the rs2k item are larger, using the 2k box will cost an arm and a leg, drive shafts have to be made up for this, oddkidd creations quoted me £250 a side, so i used a diesel box and it hasnt let me down yet.
build diary is on www.s2rs.co.uk members projects. engine is definatly a lot heavier but i get a lot less wheelspin when compared to a 130 spec 1.8 zetec that i had in therte before. all was a very very tight fit so id dread to have to do it to a fiesta but it is doable as i saw on on ebay months ago, would imagine it would upset the handeling a fair bit aswell, its not too bad in the escort but its a bigger car with more rear end weight to balance it out. give us a shout if your seriousy thinking of it.
so all in all, unless your pretty confident about it i wouldnt try it, but it does show people what your made of, a lot of the other techs at work were impressed as im only just finnishing my apprenticeship at the mo, mind you being a landrover/range rover tech these lil fords look so basic!
