Fitting a MK4/MK5 Windscreen into MK3 Fiesta
Reasons to do this:
The windscreens have a black outline around the glass and look good.
My local scrapyards are becoming rare to find a MK3 anymore, and can pick any MK4/MK5 windscreen for around £10
Removing screen from MK4/MK5:
Remove the rubber seal from the front of the windscreen, just pulls off as they don't work the same as MK3, the MK4/5 windscreens are bonded in.
Pull A pilar covers off, use a sharp blade or a proper tool to cut through the bonding material used to bond the windscreens into the car.
Cut around the top of the window, might need to pull the roof lining back abit to get to it.
Be very careful cutting the bottom material on the windscreen and do not put much force on sreen to get more space, it will shatter. Once all cut, remove windscreen.
Fitting windscreen into MK3.
Simple.
People on FT.com claimed you had to get a professional to fit one, some people said they didnt fit, some people said you had to get some of the glass trimmed down... erm wtf.
I refused to listen to these comments and thought we need to do it ourselves to see.
Remove all of the bonding matterial from the windscreen left over from the previous car.
Cover the lip on the windscreen area of the MK3 with tigerseal/sikaflex
Position the window in place, and push down.
Fit the rubber around the edges.
You may want to put a little weight onto it overnight to help it stick down.
DONE.
Will show pictures of mine once Ford Fair is over
