ist things 1st, what is the big hole on the top of my tank (from a zetec-s) for? below the pump/sender as we look?

i have a white and a red connector on the sender, where do these go? i have 2 (long) fuel lines, 1 with a red end and 1 with a white end, and 1 shorter 1 with a white end (beleive i should have another and the sorter 1's goto the fuel rail?)

what lines go into the fuel filter

Im prob not much help but..

you will have fuel in, and fuel return from the tank, the fuel from the tank will go onto the fuel filter, then fuel filter to fuel rail.. the fuel return from the rail goes to the tank.

not sure on the little hole, my tank off the mk3 didnt have that

big hole appeears to be the filler hole as its on top then you will have a tiny breather pipe, then you should have a larger breather pipe for when filling the tank up the air can escape as it wont have time to get pushed through the tiny one. that leaves the one to the left which is rather large and odd looking and i havent ever seen, but then on the si the filler is on the n/s (well was on mine) so that contradicts everything i have just said, so am a bit confused now

the feed should go to the fuel filter, dont know which one it is off the tom p of my head but seeing as the tank is not in the car just take the sender/pump out and have a look you will see the return just goes bak into the tank, so then you know which one it is, to take the pump/sender off just tap it roudn carefully with a flatblade screwdriver but use a large BLUNT one so as not to damage the lips so to speak, then when its all lines up it will just pop out.

according to the replies (2 so far) on zsoc, 1 says its the breather the says its the return pipe!

so still none the wiser

well there appears to be 2 pipe coming from the sender/pump in one pic but then on the other there nly appears to be one. if there is only one from the pump then thats your feed and the metal smaller pipe will be a return but if there are two on the pump then the metal pipe is a breather.
but then in the same instance im not so sure this fuel tank is really from a si???
im saying this because i dropped my tank about a month ago and it had the feed and return on the pump/sender top, it had the small breather by the filler hole then a tiny breather on top. whereas you seem to be diffeent in your pics, and also my fuel filter wasnt bolted to the tank like yours

managed to get someone to send me a pic and here it is

so, from what i can make out

1 pipe goes to the fuel filter (under the tank), which leaves 2 pipes, the red 1 (in the pic) and the 1 with the white circle, 1 must be the return, the other is the breather?

from memory the pipe with the red connector has "fuel" written on it

any1 offer any advise/hope?

Didnt realise there was a fuel filter under the tank?

All i know of it the filler pipe, return and fuel to engine, and them funny breathers that go along the bottom of the car to the bay

To be honest, just try plumb it in as much as you can, and if you have a spare breather, block it off
