u wudnt believe how powerful the brakes were on that thing!!!!
if u look carefully, u cant see how big they are, the pics a bit crap, but its the only 1 i have.
then grey area which is filling behing the front wheels is the brake disc.


sadly the car is no longer alive! he hit a sheep, then a tree and the front end was a mess , so he stripped it was really fast aswell!!

what sort of money these go for? and what insurance group?

insurance group 10 for a 1.4, 11 for a 1.6

They go anywhere between £500 to £1300-ish depending on how good nick they are and what's been done to them. Filter out pistonheads you'll see theres about 2 pages worth only, and most have been sold anyway. So when you see one grab one if it's in good nick!

Had a new center section put on today, and ordered myself a new speedometer cable and Green panel air filter as the current paper filter is manky.

Just the suspension to sort now. Typically I save the biggest job until last..

Yes very nippy for a 1.4 8v!

I've just checked my fuel usage. From the red petrol light I filled up with 16.40 litres. 50% of that was driving it enthusiatically, the other 50% has been carting 3 people about to a place, then back again WITH 4 gti alloys and tyres in the back. (75 miles)

Right just a little update since I first got the car.

Both rear brake cyclinders replaced as they were buggered along with a bleed and brake fluid change. Also one of the hub bearings decided to break whilst doing said job so I now have a new rear wheel bearing too! ARB link was knocking so that's been taken off, I'm still awaiting the new item to fit though. A Green panel filter has replaced the old standard paper filter and it's smoother to drive now made more of a noticible difference than when sticking it on any previous cars. It's also had some new spark plugs, an oil and filter change and a centre exhaust system fitted too. A Powerflex polybushed bottom gearbox mount has tightened up the engine rock, I just need the other two lesser ones doing now to really tighten the whole thing up properly. I've also got a new speedo cable to fit as currently I cant tell what speed im doing very well...

And finally I've a set of GTi/VTS front brake callipers and carriers that I'm currently refurbing and making nice and shiny. They should help me stop slightly better, along with the upgraded pads I'll be getting. I couldn't say no for the few peanuts they cost.

So I've been busy - expect more updates and pictures to come now I'm unemployed...

The Brakes should be plenty full, great set up, don't see why people upgrade them, with some mintex discs and Carbone Lorraine pads you'll be laughing!

Yeah I wasn't going to bother with them but my callipers are currently a gash blue and i need some new pads and discs (cheap pads/warped discs) so few the extra few quid the callipers costs me why not They are now a lovely smooth silver

I love it ok its French but i appreciate it.lol one of the boys round here i know has one and has stripped it completely, resprayed it white with black rallye steelies and GTi lump running 148bhp fu*k me it bloody shifts. in fact he's a member on here...Bridgend boy!

probably the only car that would convert me from a ford after being in it
