Well, most of you know the GTi-6 was sold on Sunday, and after 2 days of searching, I put a deposit down on this and picked it up last night. :)

1.4 XSi 8v (cat model) 95bhp in totally standard form from the standard airbox to the original tape player, and fully refurbished standard wheels.

1st gear is exactly like my GTi-6, and it's not a huge difference 0-60 if I'm honest, and the torque pull is a lot of fun, especially once your past 4500rpm! All it needs is a centre section on the exhaust as it's blowing, a bush on the lower arm as it's knocking and a little tlc on the outside as the bumpers have a couple of scuffs and a few minor dents. Great condition for a 14 year old car!

I'll be slowly fixing up the suspension problem and worn out items, giving it an all around polybush and taking it out on track soon. No major plans, but a decat is on the cards, and a panel filter if I can find one just to free it up a little more.

It's hilarious to drive and handles great due to the none power steering, especially in the wet as you can control the car much better I find. And there are so many parts and they are all insanely cheap. It'll be screaming over 7k's worth of it's 8v lungs to a Sixfields near you soon!

I must admit although it's nowhere near the power of a GTi-6, it is just as much, if not more fun to drive! and has more character without a doubt too.

Thoughts of a 16v engine in the future are entering my head already I tell thee. Rough stats!

1.4 XSi 107.19 bhp/tonne

GTi-6 139.66 bhp/tonne

16v engine @ 130bhp + 40kg weight loss = 155.40 bhp/tonne

yeah if they stop 1215kg of car with 2 people in like that, then imagine a 890kg car with 1 person :o

Sadly I can't fit the 6 brakes as I'm keeping the standard 14" wheels, but the 266mm brakes fit from certain models of 306/206/307 so that's what will be going on, direct replacement, just need the carriers, callipers, discs and pads! :) apparently it's enough to smack your face on a windscreen so it'll do for me. :lol:
