where can i get a set of 40mm lowering springs for my Si?

ive looked everywhere nd they all seem to be 35mm.

i wud prefer gmax to a cheapy budget make.

40mm lowering springs are very rare. i had a second hand set ages ago which i've sold but they were made by Apex...
Gmax is a cheapy budget make isnt it?

gmax is a budget make. Why do you want 40mm specifically, performance or looks mainly?

both really, i was looking at becks' car which is 35mm and i looked at luke1990's car which is 40mm nd it looks a lot better. plus it shud handle better a bit lower.

maybe i shud spend a bit more and get like spax, eibach or koni seeing as im only goin 4 springs.

o nd i supose gmax is budget, but they are probably better than these 1s u see with no names on them. like these 1s:

i know that if u lower the car too much on springs, then it put strain the dampers,knackering them out. also if its too low then it will handle shit

if u lower the bk more than the front it will tend to understeer
if u lower the front more than the bk it will tend to oversteer

but yea get a lowering guide goin to help people out here will u!!

I guess all I'm saying is that when you lower a car you have to look at all aspects of the suspension, springs, dampers, wishbones, ARB's, TRE's, etc everything really. Even tyre size comes into it.

Drive the car and really think about how you want it to handle, then go away and think about how all the suspension components work and figure out how you'd make it handle how you want it to. Of course it depends if you want to improve the handling or the grip, as that's slightly different.

Then again I'm going slightly overboard as it's not expensive car, I'm just bored at work as per you see. :lol: :)

Its not so much the lower centre of mass that reduces roll, rather the fact that the springs are stiffer which prevents the car leaning so much. tbh i dont think 5mm will make much difference in ride height, especially as youd see that size difference from new tyres..

i know what Ry is saying about grip and handling. they are two different things, handling is how you want a car to feel/respond, not how fast you can go round the corner. Grip is how fast you can go round corners...
when i had 40mm lowering springs on my car it didn't look much different to the 35mm to be honest.
also, i found when i had my coilovers that lowering it by about 30mm on the front and around 40mm on the back balanced the chassis out a touch to prevent the natural understeer...

i just want less bodyroll,theres not a lot there atm but it wud be nice to have hardly any at all. i find the car grips really well, it makes a lot of difference with the 195/45/15 tires, grips so much better, than what it did when it had the 185/55/14s on it.
