I think we're getting a bit off track with this thread...

The goal of this idea is very, very specific.. I can turbocharge any zetec, however you want, on any management you want, maf or map, whatever.. but that isn't what this is about :)

A couple of people have approached me to go ahead with this idea so i'll let you know how it goes.. :)

very true, i would run it on MAF just to see if it works as i dont care if the engine goes bang cos 1.itd be an excuse for a 2.0 and 2.i have a spare anyway

Stuff I do doesn't go bang though.. :)

There's nothing wrong with using MAF, most production turbocharged cars are MAF based..

However, if i were using aftermarket management, I would certainly be using MAP. :)

What makes you think you are the only person who knows what they are talking about ? I have meen mechanicing for over 25yrs on Cars & trucks as well as building race engines, and rally cars. At no point have i said it can't be done, if you read the threads i have said the extra gain you are going to get isn't worth the huge expense of doing this. I also stand by what i say about i said about doing it properly, but by all means carry on and give all these people a false hope of mega power for next to f@#k all expense. The reality of it is that turbocharging companies don't spend millions or billions of pounds on research to have some bloke in a forum saying you are wrong do they ? So i hope you are right with what you do and if you need a supply of engines you know where to come and i will supply them all day for you to keep your R & D going.

Thanks to onslack kindly supplying me with a spare 1.6 piston.. i've been able to ascertain that by machining the raised dome on these pistons down to be flush with the main top, and by using the thickest head gasket ford sell for the zetec, the compression ratio could come down to about 9:1, which is fine for maybe up to half a bar of boost (depending on turbo and intercooler choice).. It's still high, I wouldn't want to build such a high compression engine for any top speed stuff, but for a bit of fun it seems cheap.. you may be surprised how well it'd do actually.

You buy all the bits, get saqmaster to do this for you, if it goes tits up, you spend a lil bit on another engine, eg. 1.8 or 2.0ltr and you use the turbo gear you bought to turbo that one anyway 8-)

orr, buy another cheap 1.6 and sell the other bits on!
