Just thought id post up some pics of my latest Si project
all opinions welcomed

**Edited**
As i picked her up off Ebay (many parts for sale, morettes sold)
Image

as i intend a stripped interior, all was removed from the interior and then remembered Fords cost cutting way of painting an interior so i decided to paint the whole interior, including roof.

before painting the seat mounts for my bucket seats were welded in

Image

and buckets trial fitted

Image

seats were then removed and the interior masked up and painted

Image

Image

Image

resulting in a not perfect but pretty good finish

Image

then the rollcage trial fitted, has yet to be powdercoated

Image

Image

Image

i wont post a spec list atm, but if anyone whats one just ask

also one quick pic of my current run-around, can you spot a link between the two? lol

jonosi - i will try to keep regular pics and info up for you all to see

onslack - it will be track car spec, but everyday use. i'd rather have to replace worn out race parts than compromise and build to a lesser spec just because i have to use it everyday. I want my dream spec, lmao

Lowsi- cheers im rather partial to it myself.

i'll be seeing this project through to the end as it is replacing my current car and is being build to the spec my old aubergine Si would have met if it hadn't been written off. the bodywork is going to be identical coz i loved how it looked but with a proper engine as i only had a cammed 2.0 with tubular manifold last time.

today was a fun day, drove home after work, arrived 5.30. removed the ofab ecu took the omex and modified my loom to fit with my mate, got it running on the omex and mapped it to 10psi, so i can use it to go to work tomorrow, then went back to my flat all done by 8.30.

Image

just quickly took a few pics of my new gearbox and gearlever (30,000 mile box!)

Image

Image

Also i appeared in this months fast ford, i say appeared but i mean was at the dyno day, did alright, got highest power, got a mention in the write up and managed to get myself, mine or my mate graeme's car in 10 out of the 15 'random' pictures.
yay!

Image

mine is gray FRST
graeme's is RED with white rims 2.1 zetec

apologies for this being a bit of a cut and paste update

more playing with the omex today, it already had sensor calibrations on it when i picked it up so those were used for ease when we first connected it up, checked them out today and the ecu was reading 40 degrees when the car was 90! re-calibrated the sensor values for all sensors after this.
also had a bit more of a play with the map and ran out of injectors! lol

scoured round the parts store, *read - garage full of 'bits of metal' as girlfriend calls them!* found some of my brother's old rover injectors, checked the part numbers and found them to be around 1 1/2 times the flow rate of my beiges. these are being fitted tomorrow and we'll see how she goes

more fun today! fitted said rover injectors and re-set flow rate in ecu and changed map to suit, with me driving and my mate Graeme in the passenger seat watching the LM-1 wideband lambda reader and laptop on-knee adjusting the fuel and spark tables. got it fuelling right at 16psi, which is where it peaks at the moment. so we are back dealing with 4th gear wheelspin, always fun.

wired the now redundant ABS light to become a shift light at 6000rpm which is quite cool and went down the motorway at 60/70/80 mph respectively and set the fuelling to 14.7:1, so i can have maximum fuel economy when on longer journeys.

had more playing with the omex over the last few days. fired the car up to go to work and it ran rough? odd, so i turned on the lm-1 reader and found the car to be running lean. popped the bonnet and had a look at the pressure gauge on my FSE valve, (an increbibly handy addition) and found the fuel pressure to have dropped off. popped the rubber bung out from the top of the tank and un-clipped the pump plug, found the pump wiring to have melted severely in the plug on both the wiring loom and on the tank as well.

jacked the car up and dropped the fuel tank out to take a look.
As this has been a repeat problem with this car i needed to find a soloution as over the last year it has melted the fuel pump relay (replaced with two higher flow relays ), melted the plug on the loom twice and now the top of the tank.
with the tank out i removed the pump and then drilled through the top of the pump/tank insert. i then ran two large gauge wires straight through the hole, with grommet, to the pump. used a petrol-resistant sealant to seal around the wires and then ran the wires through the main body grommet above the tank and straight to the pump relays. re-fitted the tank and primed the system, more pressure than before, great! turned the pressure down on the FSE and checked running again. perfect!

just attempting to sort the battery and air temp compensation tables now

please note that on the Si i intend having an in-tank pump feeding a swirl pot with two external 044 pumps to supply to the rail

went, don't kill me, to ultimate street car @ santa pod this weekend. Travelled down this friday @ 6.30am and used 3/4 tank to get there, around 200-220 miles.

went with my mate graeme in his fiesta, Andrew in his golf mk2 VR6, James in his golf tdi and Gina in her fiesta style

ran the car on this strip,
graeme without nitrous ran 15.05 @ 92.14mph
graeme with nitrous 75bhp jets ran 14.477@ 94mph

i ran a [email protected] on first run
[email protected]
[email protected]

i did 5 runs in total but missed 3rd on 2 runs.

in one race i beat an audi rs6 (07 plate) he ran [email protected]
and in another a C20LET powered nova blew up at half track while chasing my heels.

i was struggling for traction all through 1st and 2nd losing a fair bit of time, i let the tyre pressures down in order to fight tis but was struggling having to feather the throttle through the first gears and my rev counter gave up so had to rely on the shift light for gearchanges.
Image

Image

havent had any time to do anything on the car for a while as;

mums Saab broke down and i had to fix
girlfriend's Saxo wanted servicing
mates golf needed wheels and tyres swapping (8 in total)
head gasket on a friends Corsa
friends FRST broke down (fixed)
brothers Audi wanted 2 new CV joints
service and mot prep on mum's Saab
Coilovers on mates Astra

sometimes i hate being a mechanic!

but finally got round to drilling all the bolts for the cage and re-inforcing the cage mount points so some progress has been made. i have bought a carbon roof to go with the bonnet. am having a garage clearout tomorrow and we'll see what i have to put on ebay and ill get the six-speed gearlever mounted up tomorrow and when the roof arrives i'll cut the roof out.

i'll get some pictures up soon as i remember to take any, and soon as the carbon arrives

well, managed a bit today. got up early and off to the scrapyard in search of a focus gearbox mount, no luck. but did find a mondeo mount, which i didnt know but also fits the gearbox and even easier is that it simply bolts into the mondeo bay as opposed to the focus which would have to be cut from the shell. bonus!

Image

continued the stripping taking all the mock-up parts back out, and removing the air-bag control unit and bracket and all sound deadening from behind the heater. steering column and pedal box were also removed

Image

the engine bay was stripped ready for the engine to be swapped over stripped so that only the engine and gearbox were left. at this stage the inlet was fitted to check for possible solutions to not being able to fit the gearbox with the brake servo. so to see if various master cylinders would fit under the inlet.

Image

Image

also finally got round to making a template to send to mike @performance trim for my bonnet.

Image

and took a quick photo of the BIASmotorsport headquarters

Image

and a little teaser of my mates project

Image

anyone tell what it is?

Looking good! :chill:

How do you find the Raceland Seats, any problems with it hitting the gearstick? In my Rallye the sides of the seats fouled reverse!
