My mate has a zetec-s which we recently fitted a set of toyo proxies and he has beat ver near everything round the bendy stuff inc Skyline's, RS turbo's, Saxo VTS, Xsara VTS etc etc - As mentioned below please regard the fact of driver ability and remember that most car's mentioned in this post would pee pee all over a Zetec-s and are all in a much higher league :) - Ry

so i think with a set of Koni's adjuastables, Strut brace front & rear, toyo's + 150hp i might be able to see of a few things 8-)

lol mate the guy in the Skyline had no chance over 300 meters he just keept fish tailing all over the place so then was maybe backing off but we went past no probs. the skyline would obv beat us anywhere but if you cant get grip then you aint going nowhere fast. my mate can drive and knows how to corner and corner fast the skyline owner simply bottled it and didnt have a clue what he was doing

Ive seen my RS2000 beat 3.2 turbo audi's simply cause of drivers bottle

now back to the topic.

A guy on the RS2000 forum says he has done this conversion and its a straight swap ?

why might i dare ask? :?

is it the stereotype that the fiesta is not as good as the others?

or that a well specced french hatch would beat both?

i'm not sure, i'm just beig inquisitive as i find it interesting :)

Its the Toyo tyres comments that get me the most, granted there good tyres but they wouldn't improve a car that much..................

Why not just buy a car thats ticks all the right boxes in standard guize, i've had enough of spending ££££'s on modifying cars now, next car will be left pretty much standard.

ah i see 8-)

well yeah theres a good for and against argument there but i think its down to personal preference.

if i wanted a really good handling car, i wouldn't make the xr3i one, (although in my opinion it does hold the road quite well in standard guise) i would buy one

i meant them as questions, as i have heard that away from this forum, i wasn't stating that you were bullying fiestas :)

and agreed on the toyos, my mate has pirelli p zeros on his civic, but he doesn't tell me how amazing they are, they are good granted though

and on the french flag, i was simply putting that french hatchs do handle well and that should be common knowledge, as that is a characterisitc of them and i dont want to start arguments, infact i do like the french hatches, just not the ones round here which have been "modified" or "chavved up" being more accurate.

I wasn't sticking the fiesta flag up either, i don't own one, and the one i did own had a bent chassis, so i hardly feel like i can comment on the handling, other then the fact that i drove an xr2i on saturday and granted, its lowered on shocks and springs, handled quite well, being on budget tyres.

And i agree on the driver ability traction point. I have been in a civic 1.5 vtec keeping with a 330ci round the corners, but we both kne that the driver in the BMW was not as good as my mate, who can hande a car and is the best driver i know.

:)

There's to many variables, you have no idea if the other driver was pushing it etc, someone could follow me round corners today and then start bragging saying that they out handled me, but what they don't know it the fact i can't take the car past 2000rpm, so thats why im driving like a nancy.

But hay ho, its on the internet so its fact!

My 2p's worth, is don't bother putting the RS2k engine in, for all the hassle just stick with the 2.0l

Oh don't worry meilack, I wasn't really aiming the answer at you, even though you raised the question - you're one of the better more mature members when it comes to these topics on here anyway.

I'm just probably just too quick to bite and it's not bullying as such in this thread but some cars makes and models have taken a lot of stick on this forum for no reason so I'm quite defensive, but then some people do have strong opinions, I know I do, whereas others have absurd ideas in their head from what their mates say down the pub or what cars they've beaten etc.

However you did state one thing, the xr2i handled well even on budget tyres - remember there's a difference between handling and grip and they are two different things :insanity:

i feel better as you said i am mature

but i am just naturally curious thats all and i like seeing both sides of an argument

i am quite defensive, but as i said i don't have any experience of a 2.0 fiesta or a french hot hatch, unlessyou count a 306 D turbo?

I know there is a diff between handling and grip, i meant to say that it handled well, but on the budgets i expected squeal and sliding, but there was not much, it was surely better then my fiesta, which had a bent chassis!

yeah i have to agree, at the classic ford show at the pod a couple of weeks ago, someone said something along similar lines and got laughed at by the proper ford bods.

They can see through shit

if there is no mention of skill, bottle, conditions, etc etc then people are sceptical

the skyling owner was a fool. the tires do help loads. i guess as far as the weight thing goes it will just be a case of trial and error.

and the bigger mondeo brakes. they will be a massive help. as i can brake alot later.

ill see what happens. if its crap ill sell it :lolz:
