really bad. you can get 160hp quite easy but anything after that is £££££££££££££

so its a little worse than the zetec engine then :cry:

have you thought about going throttle bodies and MS?should see 160-180bhp at a guess

unless you take the TB route its not tuneable as such

but i would think a fiesta with 148bhp and 140lb.ft torque or there abouts would be a laugh!

on the RS2000 forum there is a guy that can do anything for the right ££ so ill see. ill be doing all this to the fez and i wont do it to my own RS2000 lol

There was one on ebay a while ago with RS2k engine fitted.

Go for it if you can be arsed with the hassle, but I doubt it will make much difference.

Ive got a 2litre Si as purly a track day car my opinions are

Reliability
Yes generally when set up and sorted (suspention brakes ect). only thing ive had is clutch problems got through 2 cheap ones in 2 1/2 track days. but now fitted a Helix uprated 1 so hope this will sort this out. It's also got the usual water leaking problems, and Rust which may not be as much of a problem on Corsa.

would they keep up with Redtop Corsa's

think you also need to look at what tracks you are going to visit for corner speed or top end, i am supprised even at snetterton what i can keep up with/ahead over a full lap running on Toyo Proxies. the handling and corner spead will be better in a fiesta as dont think corsa have both front and rear anti roll bars and not as wide track.
Mine is only rumming at 133BHP but would expect a basic Redtop to be higher and easier and cheaper to tune higher than a zetec.
with referance to gearbox discussion ive still got the 1600 which tops out at about 120, but rearly strong 40-110mph, think the RS Escort series 2 gearbox with LSD woud be best, but again would depend on what tracks you looking at if lots os slow corners LSD beneficial if more faster sweaping corners with no great long straights expect 1600 still be good.


Petrol
if you are looking at track days dont think this should be looked at as an issue, both will be bad and expensive!!


Tunable
150bhp accesable with standard 130bhp cams/head exhaust manifold and throttle bodies/engine management which will cost any thing between £500-£1900
Lots of second hand stuff about for red tops though as been about for some years and will ultimatly achieve higher BHP.


My sumary is Si will out handle Corsa but may not have legs on straight, but you can get a long way ahead throught corners that it still wont catch you by end of straight:lol:

well basically the redtop corsa is the equivalent conversion to the fiesta. we recently raced one (on private roads of course) and it completely wasted us. so i set my target on beating them. which is a good target me thinks.

Here is what i think it will take.

- Fiesta Si. £300 - £800
- I4 (RS2000) engine. Got
- Koni Adjustables. £400 (Or Second hand)
- Toyo Proxies £230
- Strut Brace Front & Rear. £150
- Mondeo Calipers £50
- St170 Discs £120 Drilled & Grooved
- Lightened & Balanced Flywheel £120

So all in all Maximum £2000 Ish

Which All in All sounds like it make a cheap street sleeper :lol:
