So in essence (sp?) what were saying with these opinions is with a fiesta you cant go wrong and theres plenty of choice, mods and driving styles :FSI: :norar:

Rs1800 130ps spec engines are revvier engines, lose abit of torque but its worth it
just under 129bhp with just a different cheap exhaust :)

Although thats out the window now as its on with some boost.

you'll find most red tops and 2.0 nova's are faster than most 2.0 Si's generally.

well i think im gonna have a change of mind now on the engine front. as it sounds like im not going to be able to keep up with the Redtops with the 2.0.

I have a i4 (RS2000 Engine) sitting here doing nothing. will that go into the Si ? that has 150 HP standard. But i think the i4 engine is alot heavier than the 2.0 Zetec ?

i think your engine mounts ect will need addressing a fair bit of fabrication work

i've not seen one fitted before, but i'm sure its been done before somewhere

these corsa retop's your planning to race/keep up with what spec are they? do you know what sort of power they are pushing out?

there was rumours and posts that i've seen from a few years back on FT about people getting 160bhp from just fitting an exhaust, filter, exhaust manifold and an MS ecu

how much truth is in that i'm not sure

if you can't beat them join them, stick a red top in

well the hassle of fitting an rs2000 engine might be the biggest problem

a zetec would need a lot of work to keep with the redtops

management, mounts, mating to the fiesta loom would be fun

apart from mounts and management ( i assume you have the standard stuff with it) it should work fine

torque would be fun

My 2 cents;

Reliable ?
Yes and no. If its lowered you will eat lower arm bushes unless you upgrad them. Also, due to the camber you will also destroy front tyres unless you get adjustable lower arms (or have some made up). My headgasket went, however the engine was quite old. Basicly when you do the conversion make sure you change cambelts, water pumps, head gaskets ect and you should be ok. I hammer my fez totaly because I live in deep wales with good roads. I use a sports 1.6 clutch but this started slipping slightly after 3 months, but is still working ok 2 yrs on. General things like central locking ect can go but are easily fixable. I've also had a few water leaking problems, but thats mainly due to the bits i used for the conversion. All in all reliable if you do a proper conversion, even if you hammer it.

Fast ? (would they keep up with Redtop Corsa's ?)
I haven't seen a Redtop corsa go, however if theyr only 130bhp chuck the back seats out of the fez, loose abit of the trim and you should be on par. My fez runs 129.5bhp (this is with just the 2.0 conversion and using the 1.6 inlet manifold and pipework with only a filter change), I did a 15.8 second 1/4 mile pass at shakespears county with the spare tyre still onboard and most my trim still in, I also had a headgasket problem which wont have helped). I would say that with simple mods you'd gfet up to 150bhp you are after (induction kit, cams, exhaust manifold, decat + poss a couple of other bits) which will kill a 130bhp corsa.

Petrol ?
Others seem to think its ok, however mine is pretty bad. I will go through a full tank in 200 miles only motorway driving, I was killing something like £10 (more now as i havent driven it for a few months) for a 40mile round trip. However if your careful you could get much more.

Tunable ? (i would be looking for 150HP)
As said above, kinda tunable but not hugely. 150bhp is an acceptable target to head for with this engine, however anything more I would look at going down the blown route.

Hope that kinda helps!

Putting the engine you mentioned in is ALOT more work, as the mounts are totaly different as will the wiring.

When you say kill do you mean in a straight line or would brakes and corners be involved?

you'll (try) and do it no matter what anyone says to put you off, but remember you're dealing with a barely tunable N/A engine that has rubbish gains without ££££'s to spend.

Just stick an RS turbo lump in if you want power. and lolz at how the fiesta squirms and can't deal with it without spending a lot on suspension and a bit on brakes.

by which time you could have bought a much better faster car which could thrash the RST I talk about and whatever you want to put in, inc red tops corsa's.

it has to be a fiesta i buy as me and the girlfriend have to insure it lol. + im not wanting mega BHP 150 - 160 HP will do just nicely. i think 155 hp should see off Redtops with a decent set of tyres and a suspension set up. Well hopefully

ry- people might want a certain car for reasons they know :)

i know for a fact after spending 3k on my first fiesta i had spent way to much and could have got a much better car!

personally i would love an rst, s2, as i love theshape, not overly bothered about the performance compared to other cars, would rather have a car i liked 8-)

but ry also has a good point about whether it is straight line or corners you would like to win, as it is generally concepted that the fiesta is not as capable as other hatches such as the french variety without modification :)
