im liking the old school go faster stripe.

the badges on the older mk4's are nicer than the 90 spec jobbies as well.

i intend to leave it as it is, just cleaned up.

The reaction it gets from other road users/people is great at lunch an audi tt stopped and waited until my side of the road was clear, whilst holding her side up, to let me go

Looks a minter, Bargain for £650, Keep it in good nick for couple of years and you should easily see more than that back.

IMO, only thing letting it down is the wheels, some 3door Cosworth ones would probably suit it, without straying too far from standard.

mini update:

purchased a spare set of wheel trims for £4.20 on ebay plus postage so pics when they arrive

watching rear spoilers on ebay to, get an original black one put on and clean it up

Serivce tonight, so random pics of that i'm sure!

found a few imperfections that are bothering me, i can see a bodyshop visit happening soon

when i said imperfections i meant found some rust

I'll need the slam panel and bonnet underneath sprayed and treated etc, boot lid water hole, roof lines and other bits that have started

might look into a full respray and rustproofing!

would rather restore it to how it should be

the dreaded tin worm!

the bodyshop are going to be pestered by me for a price on:

Spraying and de rusting etc of:

1: Slam panel
2: Bonnet
3: Roof Guttering things
4: Bottom of passenger rear arch
5: Along bottom of both doors
6: Other splits touched in/treated

its not rotten, theres a pic of the slam panel in the "meilacks xr3i and robs xr2i" thread but i don't want it to start and if it means a fresh respray for a grand or so i would rather spend that then waste it like people do on smoking etc.

i also need a garage!

Will get her rustproofed before the winter after bodywork so she dont succumb to salt!

she's running much less tappy today!

Tiny update:

Payday will bring

2 new tyres

(and although i wanted to keep it completely standard, i can't resist tinkering with something ) An ashley exhaust system will be purchased

Oh and i'm in the process of removing the "mesh" from the front bumper, i will grab a couple of pics!

my car was run down the bodyshop and for the following

1: derust and paint roof rails
2: derust etc paint rear arch
3: Ditto under both doors
4: remove dink in front wing

£250

and for £100 fully refurbed and repainted wheel trims



also found my car mop

and have a couple of new pics awaiting transfer onto the pc of the car, as the mesh in the front has been removed and thrown away!

thats not a bad price at all

should be mint for FF

and if you wern't so far away i'd recomend this blokes bodyshop

its cheap becuase my mate uses it alot, and he likes the xr3i, he was looking all over it and commenting on condition and i'll ask him for a small graphic (very subtle) so people know about him

and when the girlfriend gets back from her mates "hen night" i'll get her 2 transfer my pics on to the pc
