hi there fellow blue oval boys
just looking for some guidance
i am looking to make my 1.6 fiesta quicker, i think i am going to go for a few bits from a 2.0 zetec engine so it would be the throttle body injectors and cams, i have been told this will make a big difference to the car, has anyone done this or just your thoughts on this

i'm not sure the 2.0 stuff fits the 1.6 i know the 1.8 and 2.0 zetecs are interchangable but not the 1.6

you're better off putting a 2.0 in :devil:

You could Fit the TB off the 2.0l and thats about it, Injectors would be pointless, cams would cause valve bounce. :)

Just slap the 2.0l in! :)

that was what i was thinking of doing it would be easy due to my uncle being a mechanic am i right in thinking the 2.0 is 136bhp

iirc matt's 2.0 got 131bhp and 149ftlb's :D still pretty damn quick, wont set the world on fire but will keep you happy for a while

but as said above drop a 2.0 in ;) you'll find all the info you need here :D

Bolting any parts on from a larger spec engine will do nothing for performance and will most likely decrease the overall performance.

No good for determaining cams im afraid :(


Its the profile that tells you about your lift and duration etc.

As for fitting cams on from big brother, its rather model/manufacturer dependant, same as with heads, as to the ease of compatability.

For example, Hondas engines are all part of a "series" grouping, (like nearly all companies......your CVHs, your Zetecs etc.)The reason they are grouped is because they have similar features. In the case of Honda, all engines in a series have the same bore, meaning a higher spec head can be fitted, to reduce comp. ratio and increase power.

The vauxhall 54deg. V6 engines can have the cams changed. The Vectra GSi has an extra 25bhp compared to its lower spec counterparts because MSD fitted inlet cams from the 3.0, as they fit straight into the 2.5 ;)

The trouble with Zetec family of engines, is that they all have the same stroke, meaning the bores all change with capasity. This rules out interchangablity (for the most part....any thing is possible) Fitting a 2.0 head for example would play havoc with your comp. ratio.

I do however understand cookie has fitted one to his though, and id be very interested to hear how he got around any problems :nerd:

TBH either do the 1.6 up to see how much power you can get from it with proper cams..

or more bang for buck, swap it for a 1.8 130spec, 2.0ltr or rst engine

Piper do a Fast road cam for the 1.6 which they claim gives extra horses. £200 on an exchange basis

They don't list a mild cam for this engine.

Im getting piper cams for 3 of my cars, and have already orgainised to do a batch buy with a couple of others.

May orgainise some sort of bulk order later in the year if anyone else would be interested.
Better numbers makes my haggleing hat heavier whilst on the phone ;)

I'll put up a thread when i'm ready to do so, but let me know if any of you are interested (not just the fiesta and not just the 1.6, if piper list them, i'll give it a go) ;)
