Well, thought Id make some use of this forum. My car is pissing me off beyond belief, so much money has been thrown at it, basically all my ages from my part time job. come september Ill be starting a proper full time job with a regular wage, allbeit quite small for the first 8 months whilst I go thro training, but I wont need a car then anyway. So for those 8 months Im gunna save up and buy something jap, I was thinking spending a bit of money and getting a mint mk2 MR2, and spend some serious money on the engine, maybe get an ITB conversion etc, then probably buy a diesel as well to have as a daily car.

What would you guys go for, I kinda just really want an MR2 even though Im sure that there are better buys out there? what would you all recomended?

I know dude, hence the :insanity:

4k and group 16?

that's a nice wad of cash.

2 more insurance groups and you could get a teg for that money :hsugh: I must stop bumming Honda.

You could easily buy a clio 172 for that. or a 306 rallye, seat ibiza cupra r, Nissan S14a springs to mind! (maybe too much on the insurance though?) golf gt-tdi for best of both worlds.

Rock out a great example of a clio williams too 8-)

Yea, I may not have that much money, but Im guessing, whilst training Ill be on about 800 a month for 8 months, thats with food and accomodation paid for and not much opportunity to spend my money. Some good examples have been put forward, clio etc, but for some reason I just some lush real wheel drive lol. Teg sounds quuite tempting.

200sx is group 18 insurance, but do some quotes and you may be surprised ;)

Don't forget to take into account the price of petrol. Performance cars are getting raped more so than everyone else. I'm in the petrol station every other night  And can't run normal unleaded, so something you may want to budget for would be your preference to buy V-Power or at least Super/Ultimate.

Integra's are nice cars aswell though, something to look at.

I think you should narrow your searches down to a couple of cars, and do some quotes to see what's realistic for you. Also, don't just choose a country of origin, and get a car. Get a car YOU actually like, be it French, German, Jap or whatever. Just get a car you really like :)

I did see a real nice integra out and about today actually, I want RWD, or 4WD, one moment I think, nahh defo rear wheel drive, but then I think hmmm traction. Hard one, well got a long time to make my decision up yet!!

If you're looking at MR2s then there's only the import Turbo to consider. An easy 300bhp to be had really but has a reputation as a widow-maker for a reason. Going a Fiesta to something like that is a big leap. The Integra sounds the best bet. Get over onto http://www.itr-dc2.com for some juicy gossip.

I'm toying about the idea of going jap, the crazy fuel prices are putting me off though. I'm looking for a manual galant vr4 for next summer. Will be keeping a close eye on house prices though, and may invest in one if the time is right.

Im pretty sure if I got the turbo Id stack it. Id prefer to get a 180bhp version, drive that for a few years, and then get a decent turbo engine built for it.

since i bought my gt-four st205 i have been soo happy with it. looks great, sounds awesome with the exhuast and dump valve and turns heads like no tommorow.. everyone comments on it and its fast as hell.. i paid £4k for it and considering it has a/c, electric retracting mirrors, leccy windows etc etc and was £30k when new its not a bad buy at all and much cheaper to run and insure than an evo like most people bang on about
