Hi guys

Got a police notice this morning aparenty i've been caught speeding. Now i don't know how fast i was aparently going before anyone ask's. Now the offence took place on th 11/1/08 now that was ages ago and having read the FaQ's section this is what it say's

Q, "why haven't i received the notice of intended prosection within 14 days of the alleged offence"

A. "You are probably not the recorded keeper of the vehicle. The law states that a notice of intened prosecution must be sent within 14 days to the keeper as recorded at the DVLA"

Now not only is the police notice dated 25/4/08 no where near the 14 days stated but i'm the registered keeper and have been since last year and have my log book to prove it.

Should i fight it or just take it on the chin hold my hands up as only got 3 points on my licence

before they take any money off of you, demand to see photographic evidence, or proof of some kind. the date/owner thing doesnt ring true, so to make sure this is no error, follow everything up. thats my opinion anywho.

Similar thing happened to me last year, i got pulled over but an unmarked traffic cop in May and at the end of August I got a letter saying that they wanted to prosecute me for speeding.

I would ask for the photographic evidence, does it tell you where the offence took place? Can you remember where you were on that day?

my dad got caught thoguht it was a 40 mph zone and turns out to be 30mph but there was no signs and 6 weeks later he has a ticket come through phoned them and told them he was not paying it so it will go to court

Yeah tells me where and when and it is on route with where i go so could poss be me.

i am the registered keeper have been since i brought the car last year get all my other dvla mail alright

im safe then, thought i got caught bout 4 weeks ago, was on a crawler lane overtaking someone doing 50, i was at about 70mph and just as i pulled in an elise came screaming by me at about 90mph and slammed on the brakes when he realised the was a safetey camera unit , mustve been infront of my car then :)

Can't fight it as my address on my log book has changed in the last year and it takes them awhile to update there system. which is aload of crap but never mind only got these 3 points so not to bad.
