Partly due to RS open day yesterday and partly due to my thinkin about it....

i've hit a dilemma.

I want another cabby, but it is impractical in this country. so i will leave that. :(

I really want a rst of some nature, or even an mk4 xr3i jst because i like mk4 escorts! :red: :)

Because i know that the rust will come back on the si, and the sills need a bit of tlc, which i will do anyway. Also it has dents over it (not major but noticable) and it has been keyed on the bonnet (may mop out so maybe sorted) but i don't know whether to spend the £350 on the bodywork or just work horse it and save the money for an rs/xr3i/2i/along those lines and have a car i really want and live with an older car or just let it go :|

yea the si is mechanically sweet and not a shitbox :lol: but its just the shall i shant nature of doing it up.

I have £300 saved towards bodywork that i can put towards saving for a new car

hmm

the question is, will £300 add £300 value to the car? Will spending £300 add more fun to the car, and is it essential to safety?

if you're minted then go ahead, if you're tight for cash then hold onto it. IMO of course :) sometimes it pays to be boring.

Save your cash and buy a Ford that your happy with and not having to spend cash on every week. Also once this bodyworks been done, more rust will only return in a different place, i spent 1k on a respray on my si and rust started appearing after 6 months, so wasn't really worth the money! :)

save up for a rst, it will be worth it. by the sound of it, you would be alot happier with taht, so there is no point piling money into your present car. just my 2p's worth :)

If you want one of the higher spec models, eg. RS your gonna have to save a fair bit up to get a good example with no rust etc :)

So its either a

1: Escort Gti with good bodywork this time! :lol:
2: My mates Fiesta Si which is pretty clean got a couple of rot spots like the passenger side rear arch but its been looked after (and if he actuali wants to sell it)
