well as some of you my mk2 has gone through so much in the 14 months i have owned it but it has 3 weeks mot left on it now, and the passenger rear arch is rotten and the handbrake is a bit suspect and i think the rear brakes need attention, the exhaust is blowing between manifold and downpipe changed gasket but bolts seem to go loose, and so it blows again

i'm not sure what to do as my si will be ready in less than 3 months but the mk2's mot will have ran out wayyyy before then :rolleyes:

the reason why i'm not sure wat to do is moneys getting tight and its just a runabout car but ive kinda got attached to it but i fear the welding of rear arch is gona b expensive? but a mate has offered me Ã‚Â£450 for the complete car except the sounds system

heres my options

1.sell it to my mate for Ã‚Â£450 who plans on fixing it and using as first car once he passes test?

2. break it and have no car until i get my si back on the road (could get around Ã‚Â£500 for it in bits as interior worth over Ã‚Â£100 on its own) but would be a shame as its been a brillant car?

3.break it and use most parts and buy another mk2 as a runabout with mot on it?

4.put the money into it to get it fixed with years MOT on it

not sure wat 2 do really as its had a lot happen to it in the last year but it drives and runs really well and it is a pretty cool car and turns heads

wat would you do?

cant you pay for a mot pre check then if anything bad comes back decide on that?

if not i say sell it to your mate, you loose out on Ã‚Â£50, but save another MK2 from the scrapper 8-)

i would say sell it , for a run about seams to be you are getting attavhed to it!!! plus when the si is on the road how much will you really use it ?

I'm with Ry, sell it to your mate and get something else. Another Mk2 will only provide you with the same problems, get something as decent as you can afford and wont care about and will see you through the next few months.

Thats what i'd do anyway,

sell to your mate seems the best opion to me bud, saves another mk2 and you get some cash in your pocket when you say its tight now anyway!!

forget breaking it tho, is it worth all the hassle for the sake of 50 notes!!!!

just thought of another idea........ i could just put the mk2 in for mot and see wat happens...if it fails badly i could just let the mot run out (3 weeks time i think) then cash tax in but keep it insured then as i won't be driving it i won't be putting petrol in it so will save a few hundred quid i could walk to work, go fitp in jams runabout fiesta, then come 14th june insure si and keep mk2 in garage for a future project hmmm :look:

if you do take it for an MOT....if you have those government testing places near you for ambulances and such...take it there, they'll do it for around Ã‚Â£15 and wont tell you it needs things it doesn't as they don't offer repairs

phil i say keep it nd fix problems its head turner at end of day nd think u would regret selling it !

nd once u take it for MOT and IF it fails even if u gt 3 weeks left on original mot!! becos u took it in early u void rest of MOT and if it does fail its deemed unroadlegal frm that same day and is only suppose to be driven either to home adress or garage to get repairs done.

I reckon put it in for a mot and see, then if its too bad sell it to your mate, then you can tell him exactly what he needs to fix and save the wee beast from the scrappies! 8-)

Here's what i'd do.

1.Pre MOT it to see what needs doing
- Repair and keep it if it's not too much.

If it is too much.
2. Cash tax in, Garage it so you can still get the no claims from it.
3. Sell it to mate, once your insurance runs out.

Everybody wins! includind the Mk2!
