on the history page for the Si it quotes..... 'the 1600 hitting 60 in 10.8 ' 'the 1.4 pulling itself to the magic mark in 12seconds flat' 'the 1600 would continue on to 110mph' 'the 1400 would crack the ton and inch its way over to 104mph'... iv had both and my 1.6 got to 60 in 10secs flat and i got to 120 and my 1.4 hits 60 in 10.7 and iv had 112 out of it. :? :wtf: someone please explain this ??????

haha well 3 stop watches and various other things. i spose thats not 100% accurate bt its well under the stated times and how can u explain the top speeds ?

the speedos wer accurate as i had them checkd out by garages and speed traps. i have heard of many people getting more than the stated top speeds

i can tell you my speedo is far from accurate :lol: my sat nav/gps say's its at least 5+mph out(depending on how fast i'm going) usually when i'm doing 70, my sat nav states i'm doing 65ish

Different gearbox, modifications I.E. more power would give higher top speeds, but with out devices such as the V-box you can't say what the actual speed is. :)

Your clocks will always over read, non are smack on, especially past 100mph, for example, i had mine at 125 on the clocks, GPS indicated 112mph while i was going around donnington of course! :)

fair points. my dads gps has shown my speedo to be accurate to 105 thats still 1mph over the stated top speed for a 1.4 lol tbh im not that fussed but jus think its weird that ford or who ever state cars slower than they are.

The flip side to tghat would then be, if Ford said your car was capable of doing 120 mph, but was only capable of 110 mph, then they would be unindated with people claiming their car was knackered and would need looking at under warranty.

Alsways better to underestimate than over estimate

Exact same thing applies with BHP figures, you see these rolling road day features and people are on suicide watch because they have 10 bhp less than they thought, but before they went on the rollers they thought the car was quick, and now somehow it all changes because the BHP figure is less.... dont figure. :lolz: :lolz:

Never believe your speedo, or your satnav gps for that matter, i dont believe my my sat nav reading 134.

Speedos have a known "0 to a negative 10%" intolerance when they leave the factory by law (to do with comebacks to manufacurers regarding proposed speeding accusations), let alone the ware of over 10 years.

Police calibrated all the way 8-)
