nope, you can use them off you headunit.

if you amped them you'd get more control over them and more power getting to them, but depends on the rest of your set up. if you had a sub running some power, then it could be worth amping them. otherwise, headunit will power them fine.

..but if he wants quality at higher volumes he will want an amp even if its only a cheap 200W jobby..

Not too bothered about deafening music just up to volume 30 or something like that without any crackling.

save your money mate, 6*9s are a waste of money. save it and put it towards a decent set of components for the front and a decent sub

mr chop has a point. i had two sets of 6x9s in my car before and for the added volume, it sounded so much more natural with normal rear speakers and uprated fronts with a sub

Got uprated fronts Kicker something or other, but since I got a cheap stealth shelf on Ebay, might aswell use it, will probably get the Infinity's

Philips, actually do good 6x9's.

The joys of the 'balance' button!

I would recommend running them off an amp, leaving the fronts to run off the head unit (or amp as well). It provides a lot more power which means they'll not only be louder but also clearer.
