First attempt at porn shame it shows up all the dents, orange peel and runs really

Gave it a quick wash, then t-cut to see what i could do about all the scratches and scuffs (had also been keyed down both sides ) Then finished off with Autoglym super resin polish.

Looks like where a birds Shat on your car and its been left to long and "Burnt" the paintwork! You would have to use a cutting compound, not T-cut as that can be too harsh!

And as you have used T-cut already, i advise you to get some Wax on the paintwork to protect it!

I reccomend Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub, which can be got from Gareth at Detailed Obsession (link at the Top of the Detailing Forum)

I was dipping into dads car cleaning stuff he has an old autoglym polish bottle which has "hard wax" written on the side which i was tempted to try but will enquire further into exactly what it is first do you just put wax on like polish ?

Id not use a Hard wax, especially if your not use to wax!

Depends which wax you get to how you apply it, Dodo Juice i apply with my bare fingers. Go Halfords and get Some Megs NXT TECH Wax, the liquid form not the paste as your a newbie to the Detailing world and you apply that like polish, so on with a clean M/F cloth and off with a clean M/F !

Looks good in those pictures luke, you've certainly made the most out of it. I especially like the passenger side rear.

How did you find the T-Cut? Ease/difficulty? Effectiveness etc. It seems overlooked in the detailing community with people going for more exotic stuff all the time. I'm wanting to rid my swirls as far as i can by hand, is it a good starting point?

It's overlooked for a reason, not just for the sake of going for "exotic" stuff. A good start would be with Poorboy's SSR, but you're never going to get rid of all your swirl marks by hand, if at all. You may be able to tone them down a bit, but they'll always be there. Machine polishing is the most effective way.

The problem with Tcut is that its different to most other compounds like SSR in the way that things like SSR are diminishable (obviously spelt wrong ), where as TCut isnt so it will never break down.

Keep rubbing away at tcut and you will keep rubbing away your paint
keep rubbing away a normal compound polish and after the abrasives have broken down it will then polish the surface. you can rub all day long ( well, within reason ) with most compund polishes without taking off to much paint or laquer ( dependant of compound choice, pad choice, hardness of paint etc )

i hope that makes sense, its too early for me

i've used t-cut lots of times on my old car... it worked fine...

but hey im not mad about cleaning my cars.... i havent washed my car for over 2 months...
