i recently got a new key cut for my si, it managed to open the door but wuldnt turn in the ignition when i was trying to programme it. after messing around for a while it turned. so i tried to programme it again with the master key, but the master key doesnt work now either.but some times it will turn and start the car. maybe once every 20 tries to turn the key
maybe i need a new ignition barrel but i dont think they come cheap? any ideas

could buy a re-build kit from ford.. there cheap enough, and your new keys should work fine in them... just match it up to the one you got now as you take it apart
the bits inside will just be worn to your old keys thats all

ignition switch mate!!!!!!!! or dodgy starter motor !!!!

if u try to crank it nd only 1 in 20 turns actually does something its to do wit the above !!!

when u crank it nd it dont start do all light come on dash as u crank jst nutihin nt even clickin or anything?

on my mk3 1.3 fiesta i had a problem when i changed the ignition barrel and key (as it was un coded) and had to selloptape my old key chip in the cowling (bodge i know)

Could it be a problem with this?

Sounds like you'll need your ignition barrel repairing.

I'm changing all the locks on my Si to match, but the set i got from ebay had a dodgy drivers lock, which could be OPENED with any Ford key, not just locked as they're meant.

Anyway went to ford and had a new one built to my key for ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40.25, not cheap really, but didn't have much choice.

Basically 3 options:

Take key into a ford parts dept and ask them to build a new ignition barrel for you.

"The Ford Shop" on ebay offers a build lock to key service, where you buy the barrel from them send them you key and pay a bit extra for them to build it all up for you. Cheaper than ford, but involves posting your key out to someone who will then know your address and car location. Probably nothing to worry about really though.

Go to scrap yard and see if there are any 'broken' ignition barrels, which your key (and any other) will turn in. Shouldn't be as bad as it sounds as PATS will always prevent your car from starting on any key other than your own. It'll prob be cheaper than getting a new one built.
