well basically I need a quick guide on how to achieve the best finish on a spray job

I've got ma primer, paint, and clear laquer and its for metal if that makes a difference


ive read about people saying rubbing down and stuff but does that mean sanding or what? :?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Oh and another thing, i've bought grey Zinc rust protecting primer or something? will that work I will be spraying silver

what you painting? rubbing down sanding..same thing

i usually get a 700 or 800 grit paper, rub it down, clean it off with a tac rag or a cloth, give it a coat of primer, rub that down after its dry, see if it needs another coat, then give a couple of coats of your paint at about a 25-30cm distance, its a good idea to warm the cans up in a sink of hot water.

when the paint it dry if its a metallic its quite important to key the surface of the paint with a 1200 or 1300 grit.tac rag again. heat your lacquer in the sink and give it a couple of even coats. thats my method, should come out nice and glossy 8-)

ye found a nice M reg si on auto trader earlier....totally standard with 49k genuine miles....cant remember price tho

and also loonys car seems a gd deal with a 2.0l included :shock:

shud be able to get some cash together if i work through smas hols etc.....but its insurance i wont be able 2 afford


oh and im 16...17 next nov :cry:

well u gt just under a year to save n look for a tidy 1 then mate, n pauls rite ther, its 1400 quid a year on my own third party fire & theft n thats for a 1.4!!!
