ok so take the gearbox off then lift the engine bk out the top ? i hav still left the alternator on the engine atm and hits the front of the engine bay wen lifted, whats it like disconnecting the gearbox from the shafts then droppin the whole engine with bell-housing and gearbox then seperatin it all and attachin it to my 2ltr??

we left the alternator on the conversoin we did too, just pushed the engine back as far as possible and kept moving and adjustung it til it cleared

as for the gearbox, all jam did was pop the shafts from the gearbox, leaving the lower arms etc still on the car


when we dropped the engine back in, we attached the gearbox afterwards from underneath the car, we had the engine attatched to the engine mounts and tilted it to the gearbox side, got jack under the box and jacked it up to line it up and tried to align the little shaft that comes out the gearbox

then bolted it all back up and jam popped the shafts back in


hope that helps, i think i have remembered it to the best of my knowledge, i have a shyte memory :red: :look:

just remember where things came from, take your time

other than that, once you've removed all your bits off your 1.6 and transfered it to the 2.0, it litterally goes back in the same way it came out 8-)

lol fair enuf myt put a seperate post up see if anything returns, whos the closest to u then u no off? i no for a fact there no other user from cambridge because ive search even tho ive seen a numba of si's around here see if i can get hold of one of them. will i need to upgrade my suspension if this 2.0 manages to find its way under my bonnet? ive got G max spring on there atm lowered about 35mm? think u should just invest in a set of dampers to go wit it?

if youve got the means to do it

drop the lot under.. ive always found that way easier if you want to keep it whole

or as terry said, split the box/engine then take half under and half over

its a fairly simple job, just laborious

cambridge.. hmm thats quite a way from me too sadly, or i would love to come and help
