Hey ladies and gentlemen!

I haven't looked at all at the discs yet.. So don't treat me like im a fooool :)

Ok wheel off, now calliper off, now pads out, now pad carrier off,..
now? discs retained by_______

Fill the gap please.

And feel welcome to tell me any hidden pitfalls of the ford fiesta braking system! *breathes*

Ok thanks,
Paul

I *think* there is one screw that holds them on to the hub. I was watching the bloke changing mine, but not 100% on this, but have a looksie. I seem to remember them being quite loose until the caliper was put back on.

I swapped mine for Escort discs and calipers which I got pretty cheap, so they are same size as original Si ones, but drilled and grooved :)

Yeah thats the way to go des.

Unfortuneatly some of us are underpaid no minimum-wage apprentices! lol.
:x government
:x politics
/rant over!

Did some discs on a fiesta a few months back just a 1.1 jobbie and remember them being loose aswell.

Des- have you found your pads to wear quicker because of the discs being grooved?
and honestly have you noticed any performance enhancement?

thanks,
Paul

Yeah the discs are held on (if i remember correctly) buy either a single screw or in my case a retainer washer thingy there a bit fidly to get off but i think i just gentley wound it off buy pushing a flat head srewdriver on just be patient with it.

The discs don't need to be that securely attached to the hub as the wheel holds it all in place.

Nope. On the Mk 4 (So should be the same on the Mk 3 - Dunno about Si discs) they aint held on by anything but the wheel :o

Well, when I did my calipers, the disc moved away from the hub face slightly, and there was nothing obvious holding it on to the hub.

they should be held on by a posidrive headed grub screw, if not the a retasining washer but if you just cant be arsed with it all whack the wheel on its bloted on enough to stop the discs moving

will be that same as when you did the 1.1

Paul - I couldnt tell you if there is any noticeable improvement, as I was running on pretty much NO brakes for a while. I was amazed when the old pads came off  It was bare metal :red:

I'll get some pics of me old pads

I left my discs to ware down next to nothing i didn't notice for ages it was rediculous. but the improvement when i did change was spot on.

its quite an easy job but like i said earlier (if its an Si) the retaining washer is a bit fiddly you just have to be patient with it

ahh pads, brings back a memory. Was like what you were saying Des, warn them down soo much
remember once a mate of mine driving my car down the road where i live and seeing the break light going on and the car not stopping very quickly, him getting outta the car and saying to me "err i think u might need to replace your breaks judging by the way you step on the break and it doesnt slow down much"

 Scotty and Ry can vouch for mine aswell, we were on our way to Toms one of the nights, and coming off a slip road I braked, and it made this horrible grinding sound!

When my brakes were coming off the calipers on the drivers side were locked and we broke quite a hefty screwdriver trying to prise them open
