Ive decided to bring this up as its now getting worse which is worrying

The car used to make a rattle noise like its running without oil for a second not even that on startup, like a CVH tappets noise

Now it does it for a few seconds on startup and fades out shortly, and now sometimes does it at idle afterstartup, like tappets in old engines making a noise

It gets worse now on startup, occuring more, any ideas?

Im hoping itll last a while without giving u as i havent the money to set on my new engine yet!

oil change time, my si use to do that, after a fresh oil change it stopped

mine's on 5/30, becks' is on 5/30( her's is a series 2 tho)

change it to 5/30

tappet... you need t remove the cam's and then they are fairly east to get to, they sit right under the cam lobes

not sure what else you'd need to replace tho , haynes will know

15/40!?!? Thats waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to thick for a zetec. They need 5/30!

The difference between the series 1s and 2s is that series 1 has hydraulic tappets and series 2 has solid tappetts i thought.

If its burning 5/30 oil, then you need to change your valve stem seals or failing that, piston rings.

in the old auto data books it says 5w30 or second best choice of 10w40
