mirrors

one of the most common modifications to earlier fiestas is to fit the smoother teardrop mirrors

mk3.5 ones are ideal as they use the same shape base plate, you will need the inner and outer parts of the mirrors.

to fit these you need to remove the door card and mirror inner plate, held on by one screw and 2 clips
then undo the 3 screws holding the mirror on you can now remove the outer part of the mirror, take care not to mark your paint work.

if you are fitting mirrors from a mk3.5 to the mk3 the door will require modifying, use a file and carefull extend the slot up and down on both inner and outer panels, now

put your new mirror in place and refit in reverse oder

mk4/5 fiesta mirros, puma mirros and mk6 escort mirrors can be fitted but you will need mk3.5 mirror basepaltes to make them fit properly

aerial

so simple its untrue

remove interior light and undo torx bolt holing aerial on, remove aerial and fit new mk4/5 aerial tighten torx bolt and refit light. done

rear wipers

both the rear wiper from mk4/5's and ka's will fit

lift up cover over bolt on base of wiper, undo 13mm nut, lift wiper off,
fit new wiper, tighten 13mm nut, flip cap back down.

rear bumpers

the bumper bolts on in the same places so nice and easy

you will have to trim about 10mm strip from the top of the mk4 bumper to get it to fit ncely, this is best done refering to your car though

also the towing will need to be removed

firstly open the boot, using a deep series 13mm socket undo the 2 bumper bolts

right now go and losen off your wheel bolts on the rear.

jack car up using the rear beam undo and remove both wheels

now you can unscrew the 2 screws either side holding the bumper to the arch, these are posidrive # 2 screws

for referance all cross head screws used by ford are posidrive screws not philips screws

pop out the rear bumper light and unclip wiring

with all this done you can now remove the mk3 bumper

firstly you will need to convert your mk3 wiring to suit the mk4/5 lights, either solder or use crimps

ideally heatshrink all connections as its outside either that or tape em up

now get an angle grinder and lose the towing eye, this is the fun part

now you can trim the top of your bumper to fit

then refix using the revers procedure to removal

dont forget to tighten your wheel nuts 24 hours after putting em on so they are fully tight

bootlid and lights

open tailgate and disconnect all wiring washer jets etc

pop off the boot support struts

now using a suitable drift and a hammer knock the retaining pins out of the hinges, takes a bit of force, have a mate or 2 help you here to hold the tailgate

and remove the tailagte

now undo the 4 bolts holding the lights in and remove them

you also need to remove the rear bumper for ease at this point

you now need to remove the rear panel and light mountings from the car, sand the paint off then drill out the spot welds

you now need to replace these parts with mk4/5 items, the fit in exactly the same way

as for refitting the tailgate, you will need to hammer the pins back thourgh the hinges on the new tailgate.

refit the body panels and accesories and its done

will update this as and when i think of parts
