Think this is in the right section. Hopefuly if all goes to plan I am collecting an engine on thursday, 2.0 litre powah! Basically tho it wont be going in my car straight away, what precautions need to be taken so I can store the engine without it siezing up and stuff, Im guessing drain the oil and cover up where the manifold joins to it and stuff, anything else???

Is it not safer to keep the oil in so it doesn't dry up???

I dont know lol, I thought the oil could all sort of turn to gunk.

leave the plugs in, cover up the ports, masking tape is good,
leave the oil in as well, i did, just turn it over a few times now and then

the main question is how long are you going to be leaving it standing, weeks?? months?? years?? the oil will turn to gunk eventually, that is if its old, best thing you could do with it is before you put it in storage is to do an oil change and put new fresh oil in and turn it over now and again like said but that would only be if its going to be sitting for a long time
