hi ive just purchased myself
a
wolf 2hp, 50litre compressor which does 215litres a minute!! does 8-bar or 116psi

im wanting some advice from you people that spray or have sprayed cars !!

want litte advice on sprayin body parts bumpers/ skirts eventually whole car !!

also some advice on what sort of spray gun im gonna need like:

gravity sprayer
suction feed, ect
i kno theres loads so any helps it appreciated !

The compressor you have is great for pumping tyres up and doing very light work. The amount of air needed to paint a car is huge and the air compressor you have won't keep up. I used to have a 250ltr tank with 3 hp motor and that ran out of steam and i had to keep waiting for that to recharge the tank, but the 3 phase 7.5Hp 250 ltr compressor i have keeps up, infact it switches off even when using a DA sander which is a phenomenal feat as they are mega hungry air users. The thing is it cost me nearly a grand and you cannot just put a plug on it like you can with yours.

that compressor will be fine, whenever it starts to fill the tank just stop spraying and wait for it to stop, then continue spraying

gravity feed guns are by far and away the best to use, when i bought my paint i got a gravity fed gun, works beautifully, i also ordered a roll of masking paper and got given (free) a normal suction feed and it was cack

quality of finish also depends on the paint used, cellulose is cheaper, and the finish is rather thin and the paint will wear quite quick, 2k (2 pack) paint on the other hand is the mutts nuts, costs more than cellulose but the finish is much harder wearing, 2k is also thicker so will cover any minor scratches saving you a little work

ps 2k paint is bad for your health and is only meant to be used in a spray booth, doesnt stop me doing it in my dad's garage, although i did invest in a decent mask and im still ok

, well as ok as i was b4 i started painting :lol:

i asked around spoke to a few people and they said that the compressor should be good enough !!!

Jamie you are bang right about the pressure, usually between 40 & 60 PSi. Celulose is not what you want to use, 2K or otherwise know as 2 pack paint is the one to use. Make sure you get at least a charcoal filter mask to filter out the nasties and good luck. Are you doing metallic or solid colours ?
