do si's limit!! i can get all the way to 7,000 and no bouncing! is this a good thing or bad?

my friend had my 2.0 Si hitting 7k and the limiter never cut in, not ever going there again tho

thats a good question i dont think they have limit ! lol well obviously they do but its pretty high lol !!!

well....to be getting the limit....the needle has to be off the scale...i once had mine touching the plastic once....thats when it hit the limiter....but it was chipped also.....so i got a big fat bang when i let it off and banged it into 3rd

chips can also be programmed with a raised rev limit.....but dont bounce it off the limiter all the time. it will go bang eventually

std limiter is at 7250rpm

your way way past the engines peak power/tourque then so its pointless driving it like that

think it's a soft one, i think, as it seems kinda progressive

pointless revving that far. engine won't last long if you do...

this probably explains your other post about your radiater hose!!!

if its a soft cut it will just stay at the set limit, if its a hard cut it will bounce

well, from the experience ive had anyway

I read it was suppost to be 6250rpm or somewhere around there..? think it says in the manual near the back, ill have a look later...

its likely you would shear a con-rod bolt

most zetecs have just a limit they just wont rev past 7(ish)k
unlike most other engines that have a da..da..da..da..da..
bouncy rev limit, ala the frenchies

so i guess its the soft type

There were huge clouds of blue smoke yesterday as I was interested if I was right :p

I never took it to 6.2k - its hard to let it get that high (35-40mph in 1st ) think I got to 5.3k or somewhere before the noise made me change up.. not that its noisy or I dont like the niose... im just so used to changing gear by the sound of the engine.

its oil problem, was likely caused by previous owner pushing it too hard though...
