me dads has failed its MOT for high emission, he said if they cant fix it he'll have to scrap it! WTF! whats the likely cause of high emission? its a 1.25? |

When was it last serviced? Bad plugs/leads/coil can cause high emissions. But as Scott said, could be the cat or lambda sensor, or another sensor. My Pulsar failed miserably on the emissions, so I done the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm and put the cat back on, and it was the lowest it's ever been, almost non-existant Don't let him scrap it because of that!

just an update the garage fixed it, apparently my dad used the wrong oil, oil then got in the cat and the cat needed replaced. £150 all-in, MOT, new oil, cat and reg plate |
