here we go, one for you people of french knowledge, as i have none  1996 Renault Laguna 2.0 16v Estate Right, was driving with kirstys mum to football training and the car was fine, no problem ran sweet came out afterwards and it won't start its like a clang when you turn the key  theres power getting to the starter but it won't do anything it won't bump start, or jump start either any ideas? the starter was replaced 2 years ago, and the main lead for the starter was changed in january

 that bad then ah i was hoping its someething simple as kirstys mum has not alot of money, is going through a divorce with a waynekerr  , has a baby on the way as kirstys sister is due any day now and needs the car

Sounds like the starter may have seized a bit. I know it's an old trick, but try whacking the starter with a hammer, you might get lucky and it will free it up, and in which case you'll know it's the starter. |

yeah, i have whacked it and its still not playing ball but why wouldn't it bumpstart then?

| damnation i hope she gets some money of the scumbag in the divorce to get a car, she wants a ford focus or something like that as a reliable sensible family car  poor laguna though, its done 121,000 and its had to put up with 4 kids over the years, maybe its had enough

Are you getting a spark? If you can then you can rule out ignition. Could the immobilizer be doing something? Re: new car. Get a Toyota Avensis. Been recommended by a mechanic. He said it's an awesome car. |

no idea it was working fine, and i know when my dads immobiliser went it did nothiing, this is making a noise

Yeah, check if you're getting any sparks, arc it to your tongue or something metal to see  Check fuses for fuel pump, can you hear it prime? Just go and fettle about with it

yeah cheers guys its just odd in the space of being parked for an hour its done this and fuel pump is priming, can hear that its just i am as mechanically minded as a sponge

Ring up the Renault service team. They'll be able to tell you straight away. They're totally awesomeeeeee /sarcasm. No seriously, I think it's some wiring fault. Start with the spark and work back. |
