im looking into a new car for the new year and the insurance is reaonable on on of these, cheaper than the si for that fact! just wondering if anyone no's what these are like to drive, reliablity, compfort, mpg? equiptment seems extreamly good in them and can pick them up for a nice price on around a w plate.

wanting something more grown up and compfy but still want it to be fairly powerfull

but its so nice

but they are not bad, not very quick in standard tune but a solid car

i have been thinking about it for a long time tbh, what i have been wanting to do is keep it and buy a second car but i cant afford to do that

i really do love the si but it gets to the point where i want something more compfey its only my 2nd car and the car before was a fiesta so iv been looking at the same old dash for over 3 years

it wont be happerning till summer next year as i dont have the money to spend on a newer car now but mayb by then i will have the cash to hold 2 cars

i was looking at one on auto trader with the facelift dash and half leather interia with black cloth in the middle, climate control, cd changer, satnav, electrics all around, electric seats and the uprated audi soundsystem with standerd audi sub behind the rear seats, had done 78k with full audi service history for...4,000 on a x reg only problem was the car was baby blue

Doesn't matter how fast they are standard mate, £300 re-map is 200ish BHP so job
done, can do turbo upgrades and get silly power if you like too.

They are really nice cars, they do quattro's aswell, and you probs know the golf gti
and ibiza cupra are pretty much all very similar (engines etc) so maybe worth thinking about
either of them depending on which you prefer the look of.

yeah i'v looked into mapping and it seems pretty good and not too expencive! but if i did go for it i problerly would be fooling around with the engine too much but well see

iv always liked the looks of audi's and there reliability aswell, i find the golfs too......bolkey if you no what i mean, leon cupra is another that i am looking at but only problem with them is that the interier is very badly put together and feels and looks very plasticy, the audi looks more expencive on the inside and thats where ill be sitting the whole time so want something nice to look at while driving iv been and looked at all 3 cars and the audi is comming out tops on looks, compfort and equiptment for the price. havnt driven any yet tho. a3 1.8t quattro is yes another that i did look into but insurance seems to be quite abit more on them

ill be 21 in april, 4 years driving and comming on 4 years no claims so ill see what the insurance is like then, as the quote i did was 20, 3 years driving a 3 years nc and that was £1040 for the year, the si is costing £1050 with the 2.0

if they are the same engine as the mk4 gti 1.8T my mate said they can be taken to 400bhp on standard internals

i have got another mate with 260ish bhp with one and that goes well

i prefer the leon but i havent looked around one properly so havent took notice of interior or anything

I don't like the A3's but I've drove an A4 1.8T in standard form.

Seemed to go pretty well.. also driven the Golf Gti with same engine and that bloody shifted compared to the A4 due to the weight I think??

I wouldnt mind an A4 to be honest, or maybe an ibiza like above... but i'm hoping for some VAG Derv to tune in the future... mates gt-tdi golf is at 190bhp after a remap and is daft.. I love it

They're not renound for having very sharp handling tho (all 3 varients) in my eyes i've never really understood the point of what often are barges with lots of power. Straight line fun can get boring very quickly.

For a grown up reliable and what can be quite nippy then I'd go for it.
