Make sure you keep us updated with its progress with pictures!

It is great to see that Ben's memory is going to live on in so many ways such as this.

Any help I can offer I will. I don't know anyone down your way that can do that sort of work but others close by may?

Went back today to take pics:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ukjeeper/s ... 258586275/

There's a hole in the top of the left front fender that i didn't notice the first visit, as well as a small hole in the base of the wing. However neither hole has gotten into the seams/joins, so should be easy to fix... If i can find a body bloke.

Also tried to start it. Unsuccessfully. Something clicks under the hood, but it's not the solenoid . Not enough time to troubleshoot. Ben's Mum is on crutches, but came to the garage to unlock it, and was standing there while i poked around.

Well, couldn't get out there over the weekend as the family had more important things to worry about. Like welcoming a new member of the family!

So i'll try this week. Mate of mine who was a Jeep mechanic (Lancasters) has offered to come out and help take a look.

Found this on the bay which may be a good donor roof (and left front wing) along with other misc parts.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111056736299? ... 1423.l2649

Just have to get a transporter rented to go get it next week.

Updates:

Someone swooped in and made a cash offer on the Ebay Jeep above, 5 hours before the auction finished. :x

However, the seller has given my email address to the buyer. They only want the engine, so bodywork is still possible.

Also, have another roof being offered. Have to go up to Halifax to get it though.

Going up over the weekend to help Loraine dig out all of the paperwork and misc parts and maybe work on the Jeep.

Going up again next week with the Jeep mechanic mate to get it started if i fail at the weekend.

And finally, moving it to another friends place, much nearer to me (big barn, with electricity). Just have to find a car transporter. (selling my Cherokee at the weekend, hopefully, so i won't have a hauler for the trailer i normally use).

No big updates, just FYI.

Tim.

Looking for car transporter options, either self drive or reasonable cost "man with a van" to move it from where it currently is to a location about 20 miles closer to me, so i can work on it easier. So if you know of anyone...

Was going to move it myself as i have access to a trailer, but sold my larger Jeep last week (raising Chief funds) and my Wrangler is too small to safely tow 2500kgs (Chief and trailer) with!

Spent this evening moving "Freddie the FSJ" to his new temporary home, with the help of some good friends. Now I can spend some time seeing what really needs to be done. Long way to go yet, but a big step. Currently resting in a big comfy barn under the watchful eye of cctv.

Happy to report he fired up and ran impeccably. Got himself on and off the trailer under his own steam.
