Just so you know this has been up for sale before but A LOT has changed since it was up for sale…
This is an unfinished project but it comes with everything you need to finish it, to be honest it would take much to complete it but I need the money and do not have any spare time to complete it due to new job.
This is not a normal sierra at all, firstly it’s a 2 door Sapphire shell, secondly it has a 2.9 Twin Turbo engine designed and built by turbo techniques. This is not the standard 2.9 where the bolted 2 turbos on it, this is the exact same engine as a Minker engine, if you haven’t heard of a Minker before there is more info below...
Now for a bit of history on the car... I bought the car from a mate of mine who is obsessed with fords (especially sierras). He always wanted a Minker (I will explain what that is in a sec) but then he came across this 2 door sapphire, then he managed to find a Minker replica with this engine in it, this engine was built by Alan Jefferies who helped design the Minker Turbotechnics engine. This engine is not to be confused with the other 2.9 twin turbo Turbotechnics engine as they are not very powerful and nowhere near the spec these Minker engines are!
For those of you who don’t know what a Minker is, it’s sort of like a Cosworth but whereas Cosworth built lots of them, Minker only built 7 iirc. I found out that a standard Minker will do 0-60 quicker than a Ferrari Testerossa and it will basically make a Cosworth look like a 1.1 fiesta...
There is so much info I could write about the engine but basically it is a very very high spec'd engine, I have loads of photos and print outs of power and specifications etc... But like I said they are very fast. I have one receipt for the engine build alone for £13'000!! Plus many more.
Now the 3 door shell…. There are rumors that Ford wanted to make a 3 door saph and they made 3 prototypes. The other option was some very VERY determined man made this. Basically this is Sapphire front, XR4 Doors, XR4 rear quarter window, mix of XR4 and saph pillar, saph roof and floor and then saph back.
The guy who owned the car before me spent over £20k on this so far and has got it to an extremely high spec! a few things… both T2 turbos have been completely refurbed, rs500 style intercooler, all stripped back to bare metal, undersealed etc, all stainless steel bolts and fixings, everything had been done to an amazing spec. The car is a 4x4 but has all uprated diffs and uprated gearbox and a tweaked 5th gear, all pollybushed literally everywhere arb/strut top mounts etc etc, there was one bush that could only be got from America and cost £300! 330mm High spec brakes, Cosworth bumpers, alloy radiator, MINT black leather back seats and almost mint COSWORTH RECAROS, loads of interior and spares, Milimiglia wheels (rare), mint Black dash (VERY RARE!), metal laser cut dials (170mph), fully adjustable coilovers, GENUINE Morettes, loads of st.st. bolts and samco hoses and new gaskets and loads of new parts and I’m sure loads more!
The state of the car is… underside is finished (redoxied, sealed, undercoated, painted, fitted up). Exterior has been painted, flatted and machine polished. Engine just needs Alternator, PAS pump and belts fitted then the looms connected. Suspension and drive train is done, the brakes are all there just need the brake lines connecting up.
